It's true, the new song is very loud... You can see how compressed it's been made in the image below. I hear they call it 'brickwalling' when the amplitude gets pushed right out to the limits like that. And zooming in on some of the peaks reveals that clipping has occurred in some places too.
This is the 320kbps MP3 bought from the Google Play Music store:
Do we assume this has been done deliberately? Like, to suit the style of music rather than because it's the 'done thing' these days? We all know how particular Jay is about the details of his stuff... It will be interesting to compare the digital downloads with the CD and vinyl releases when the album comes out. |
Told you from the very first time i've listened to it, and yeah you know... It was deliberate in order to make it "feasible" to play in all kind of speakers sets, and also a fucking bad habit from these producers...
If you listen to the version in the video, it's much more quieter and dynamic, you can actually listen to jay's voice accordingly and i'd also recommend it to the people who are transcripting the lyrics, lot's of the misled words will be mitigated.
Andrew you won't see much difference between the digital and CD releases pretty much because the master will be the same. As for any vinyl releases there will be a completely different game simply because the vinyl has a physical limitation on itself which limits the loudness because you cannot go beyond it's max signal to noise ratio. In a digital soundwave you can push it's amplitude over and over until you start to hear the massive clipping we get in the song. _________________ At the speed of cheeba, you and I go deeper... |

Totally right. But I'd like to add that nowadays, 99.9% of vinyl masters are sourced from digital master. Don't expect a really better sound from the vinyl. Warmer to your ears maybe (but this is subjective), but not less brickwalled.

Have you wondered if the back singers will be part of this album? |

I had wondered many things like that, for instance if we gonna have horns and backing vocals too, I really want to hear them in the next tour, I just love the solos of Malcom Strachan, and Jim Corry. _________________ Got my soul education! |

Malcom announced he wasn't called to work with the band in this album but the horns will continue (Jim corry posted he will miss malcom during the next tour) |

That's bad. But at least there will be horns.
That calms me down a little. |

To me there's 3 kind of fans(apply to the rally dakar fans too )
1-the old school fans who don't want any change
2-the newcorners, still learning about the band sounds, etc
3-fans who know only a few songs, but they want to know more
wich kind of fan are you? _________________ Only a fool can walk away from me this time

Too simple. If the band had retained the original lineup after TWM it still would've changed. The change would've been more organic is all. Everyone still wants good change. How you define "good" is the main factor.
If you took the Beatles & replaced a member with a new guy, do you think there would be a difference in the quality of the music? You bet. Chemistry between band mates is a huge factor in the quality of the music output. |

i'm neither! i love all Jamiroquai styles. i've only been a fan since 2009 which in comparison to most of you guys is not very long but i was born in 2000 so i have an excuse lol i used to dislike the EOPE era and know nothing about the TROTSC era (whyyy??) but now i'm in love with both those eras, especially TROTSC, an underappreciated gem. but i also love love love AFO and even Dynamite! i even have a soft spot for RDLS as I remember getting it for Christmas when I was 10 and playing it in the car and being really happy to listen to new music from my newly favourite band. so i basically love all of Jamiroquai's content, pretty much.
sorry... that got long _________________

But In my opinion, RDLS is better than dynamite. Or at least I listen to it more often. |

i think i agree actually! with RDLS most of the songs are good, a few are just okay, and one or two are really good, but with dynamite it's more hit and miss. some are amazing (such as Starchild, Seven Days In Sunny June) and some i skip (world that he wants... good message but just not the style i like). both good albums but RDLS is more of a continuously good album, whereas Dynamite is a more "bipolar" album, with some fantastic songs and some "eh" songs. none terrible though, in my opinion _________________

To me dynamite was better than RDLS, maybe because many of the RDLS songs were very emotional, and less''happy'' compared to dynamite, at least to me. so i like RDLS but for some times of instrospection, opposite to dynamite who sounds more party _________________ Only a fool can walk away from me this time

Don't agree, I don't consider myself a newcomer, and I still like the band new sound |
