My hopes for a third single are almost lost by now haha. But I still want the third video we've been told about!

Remember that could very well be the 'Bonus Video' that will have a code redeemed for it on the "Deluxe Edition" of Automaton.

I think the remixes have turned out to be a plus for us fans in the sense that practically a 'new one' would be coming out nearly every Friday of the past month and a 1/2. Yes, some fans may think 'remix/mixes' are at a point now of purely being either 'filler/small cash grabs' but you got to admit these Automaton remixes, so far counting up to 6 of them, have been pretty damn good. Granted, we may not get a third single in time before the album release but with these remixes/mixes we have a bit of a nice 'bonus' to add ourselves to Automaton listenthroughs. Just my 2 cents on this...

I have to disagree with the remixes.

While, yes, it's a pure treat for fans who love to collect, love house music, or just love anything Jamiroquai, I'd have to disagree with the opinion that the remixes are good. I find them bland and heavily lacking any staying power. They're forgettable and only good if you're not intending to listen to the song being remixed. It just doesn't resonate with me to where I can actually feel anything from it. I feel these remixes are a dime a dozen and is nothing more than your basic, ho-hum, 21st century lackadaisical effort.

In short, they're boring and they sound like every other remix of today's popular artists.

Basically, I won't remember them as being classics 10 years, heck a year from now.

That's my opinion.

I will say this about the remixes.

I think back in the day like decades ago, remixes/radio versions/DJ mix's etc. of top 40 singles, sometimes did way better as far as airplay and recognition than the actual track did. Especially on urban radio stations, and in nightclubs and discos.

I know a prime example is "Tom's Diner" by Suzanne Vega. A remix of an indie rock song that turned into Urban/R&B that was done pretty much behind her back by two hip hop DJs that charted way higher than the acutal song and got way more single sales and it shows you how remixes can make a difference sometimes.

I know as far as Jamiroquai, around the time of TWM, The "David Morales Space Cowboy" remix, "Cosmic Girl radio edit" and "Alright Falke and Braxe mix" all did good and here in the United States getting top charts on the Billboard dance charts, they were probably more heard in clubs than the actual song.

The thing is remixes, are strictly limited to House, techno, electro, Hip/Hop, and not everybody likes that type of music.

Jamiroquai has done elements of all of the above in their songs, but it's not their core sound. People like their live instrumental tracks, and so do I.

Don't get me wrong, I love remixes, if they are done right by a good DJ.

As I commented on Instagram to a similar query, I think we will start seeing them pop up on Automaton sales listings (I.E. Amazon.com, etc.) in the next week.

This right here should always be emphasize as I feel that's the main thing that's been missing.

I also love remixes, but only when I feel they've been done right. You don't necessarily have to be into House or Techno. You just need to vibe with it. And for me...well it depends. Yes, some remixes have exceeded the original track to become club staples down the years. The one that pops into my head is New Order's Bizarre Love Triangle, which is reaching it's 31st year.

Just heard the Tough Love version of Cloud 9 and I like it. I can feel the effort placed into the rearrangements and it's not filled with some bland beat either. It's a good remix...pretty legit. It'll probably have a good shelf-life. I feel it's way better than the other two.

But again, opinions.

There's a song by song review in the Dutch magazine Jazzism. The reviewer is pretty positive. A summary:

1. Shake it on - strong track, great refrain, many synthesizers, disco (Giorgio Moroder/Stevie Wonder/Bee Gees)

2. Automaton - great production, 'classic' Jamiroquai but then in 2017

3. Cloud 9 - simple song and lyrics, forgettable

4. Superfresh - many layers and moodswings, vocoder, great bass, future Jamiroquai classic

5. Hot property - heavy bass synthesizer, Russian voice (!?), experimental soundscape, great bass slapping technique, shallow lyrics

6. Something about you - typical Jamiroquai, guitar part like Nile Rodgers, classic soul (Bootsy Collins/James Brown), great production

7. Summer girl - party song, handclaps, strings and emphasis on percussion

8. Nights out in the jungle - long intro, Motown, falsetto, virtuous bass, monkey sounds (!)

9. Dr Buzz - (one of the) best track(s), great refrain and rhythm, 70s soul/disco, guitar solo

10. We can do it - low key with cowbell and hammond, JK sounds like Sting/Police, reggae-ish

11. Vitamin - very uptempo, classic soul (Isaac Hayes/Curtis Mayfield), soprano saxophone solo ('at last some horns')

12. Carla - great song, should be next single, style and sound like Stevie Wonder's Talking Book album
