Holy smokes those samples sound great to me!
I mean, there's always the chance that some of these songs will take really weird turns or contain some goofy lyrics, but right now it looks like it's going to be a really groovy album, and much more coherent than Dynamite and RDLS.
Vitamin!!! I'm with others, feels like TWM era stuff. Can't wait. |

These comments are so positive! I'm getting more excited comment after comment. It will be hard to wait till Friday without listening to those samples.
If I got right the album have three main styles: Disco, Funk and song like those from Synk era. Is it right? |

Yes! At least from what we can tell so far. A few of the samples in the video are incredibly short and/or it only plays the intro without giving us the main melody (so we can't tell how a few of the songs truly sound since the beat doesn't drop yet haha). But so far, I'm really digging the direction the band seems to have gone with Automaton. Vitamin really caught me off guard, I seriously can't wait to hear that full length track!
My dilemma is this though: how should I listen to Automaton on Friday? I have memories of the first time I popped in the CD to the other albums...like, what I was doing at the time, where I was, who I was with. I still remember how my girlfriend in high school actually got Dynamite early and she surprised me with it when she jumped in the car for me to drive her home. Strong memories of the summer of 2005 are tied to that album lol.
I think for Automaton, I might just pop it into my PC, throw on some comfy headphones, lie back on my bed, and get lost in that "interplanetary good vibe zone". Gonna be great to drive to as well, I bet! _________________ If it ain't no natural law, then you can keep your regulations. 'Cause if I like it, I do it. |

Most looking forward to 'Vitamin.' Uptempo, slick bass-line and production. Somewhere between the old and new Jamiroquai. A Funk Odyssey futurism meets the uptempo but spaced out vibe from Fast Persuader.
Overall, it seems like quite a dancey, electronic album. Only a couple of the songs seem iffy, and none as off as the B material from the past two albums, at least musically. Lyrics so far are a bit humdrum, fairly 'baby' heavy. Looking forward to the album though! |

Thanks, David!
I found it a fun and very danceable song! I really enjoyed the retro disco vibes Gosh, I've missed them so much!
It's not a hit in my view, but sounds like a very fresh and enjoyable track. It put me in a good mood right away.
Really digging the intro and the way they go back to it in the second half of the song. |

I'm not going to judge an entire album based on those snippets in that interview with Jay. Nor will I dismiss the album just because the lyrics are full of 'baby'.
However, judging from the very little that can be heard... this album will most certainly be better than RDLS in my opinion. Some songs have potential, others are a bit meh.
Vitamin is the one song that caught my immediate attention. It seems to be right up my alley. _________________ Old school forever! |

superfresh sound enjoyable like clou9 but pretty forgettable, instead i'm sure Dr Buzz , Vitamin and Summer Girl are great production.
Can't understand much for Nights Out In The Jungle too short sample.
I hope Itunes/Amazon will let us hear longer sample soon |

Superfresh is pretty groovy, has a bit of Daft Punk style vocoder in there too. It's nothing spectacular but I like it and it's great to hear new Jamiroquai stuff obviously! _________________ If it ain't no natural law, then you can keep your regulations. 'Cause if I like it, I do it. |

It definitely has this classic disco feeling, sounds like a newer cover of a seventies song |

Other than Vitamin and hmm... Cloud9, i've found nothing else worth the attention at first hand. Let's see the full tracks to have a better idea.
I dare to say it would be healthier for everyone here to do the same. To wait a little more... _________________ At the speed of cheeba, you and I go deeper... |

Here, I'll say it then: Superfresh is (imo) a legitimately bad disco song. The sort of thing that made people hate disco in America. Moroder/Donna Summer-era stuff with lame harmonization and lyrics, and a cheesy, galloping bass line. Possibly more relevant around the time Random Access Memories was released, but pretty much inexplicable now. I suppose I could see it being improved in a live performance. Hoping this will be the only stinker on the new album. |

This is better than Cloud 9 and Automaton.
It's got great parts in it and they could have explored a little more, specially the chorus.
Paul did a great job with the bass this time and it's good to see the strings and groove back (which I don't see in the previous ones).
Honestly, it feels like this album is going to be much more alike to Dynamite than to TWM as I haven't seen their jazzy side until now. |

Since I didn't see it posted, I'll comment here:
Guys, skip to 1:52:00 to hear the song.
I'm sure there are those of us who don't want to trudge through the program.
Hope that helps. |

Yeah, I do think the acid jazz era for the band is over at this point. And really, that was mostly just the first two albums with a bit of jazz sprinkled in here and there on the following albums.
Coming from hearing the album samples, it's interesting that the album art and name focus on the digital/robotic side of things when the album samples make it sound like majority of the songs are disco/funk/groovy, a more natural sound compared to something like the track Automaton. That's why even just back when we found out the album track names, I thought Superfresh or Nights Out in the Jungle would have been a fitting name for the album. _________________ If it ain't no natural law, then you can keep your regulations.
