Looking at the tracks you guys skips it becomes more evident we all have different tastes and if you like a song or not doesn't mean anything, because others might like it. |
You're right about that!
In fact I don't always skip those tracks, it depends. If I am just relaxing and want to close my eyes and drift away I would listen to all of the songs of whatever album is playing. But if I'm driving or working I would skip some songs that are instrumental or not quite energetic.
I don't know I enjoy almost all of the songs, but it depends on the situations or my mood.
My point is that everybody likes different aspects of Jamiroquai, some liked the Acid Jazz era, the Stuart Zender bass, The funk, the Disco. But in the end we all think that Jamiroquai is a great band! _________________ **I'M AUTOMATON** |

Automaton has weirdly grown on me A LOT, Cloud 9 also. The simplicity of We Can Do It's lyrics and the repetitiveness of them make me think that it won't end of being a grower. Superfresh I think is a decent track.
What annoys me about We Can Do It & Superfresh is that the minute they start to get interesting, they fade out. Extended versions could save the tracks. |
Exactly what i think. Automaton and Superfresh are growers, We Can Do It will never be.
I read in some review that there are extended versions on the album. I have the feeling this album will be very good! |

The good thing about not liking Deeper Underground is that I don't have to skip it because it isn't in any of the releases I own :^) |

The album being overhyped from some shitty snippets is evident here as well. _________________ At the speed of cheeba, you and I go deeper... |

If they had kept doing the same style of the first album over and over again, they wouldn't have lasted this long, that's what I think. The acid jazz movement is over, the 90's are over, all the musicians from that era are gone. It is time to move on (it has been for a long time).
Personally, as much as I love those first albums, they would've been stuck in Incognito mode, basically doing the same album and styles for decades.
Jay was smart enough to slightly change the sound from one album to the other. They didn't drastically change, but their sound has evolved and I think is gonna be quite fascinating to listen to Automaton in its entirety. |
I had to log in and post to agree with this. The 90s are long gone and musicians have to evolve to stay relevant. Incognito are an enjoyable band but it is jazz/funk/soul by numbers for me. Not exactly reinventing the wheel with each album release that they release. BNH are in disarray the last I heard Jan Kincaid and Dawn Joseph had quit and other acid jazz acts haven't done anything worthwhile.
Jamiroquai are unique because they are the most successful band from this era of music. If people want to listen to the acid jazz sound of EOPE and TROTSC they can, but for me the 4 tracks from Automaton I have heard are genuinely different, exciting and enjoyable. |

With every album, this forum becomes increasingly negative and further detached from reality.
I like what I've heard and am happy that the band is putting out more music. I'm sorry for those lamenting the old sound, but it's not coming back. |

I'm very happy with every little piece I heard from the new songs. Groovy is the word that comes to mind. |

I agree with you. This album seems to be more homogeneous than RDLS. |
