Listening the album for the second time!

Wow Summer Girl reminded me a lot of songs like "I'll Never Forget" by Dexter Wansel and "Fantasy" by Johnny "Hammond" Smith.

"Nights out in the Jungle" sounds a lot like "Shifting Gears" also by Hammond Smith!!

This made me realize, maybe JK is finally playing the music he always wanted to play!!

Anyway, big marketing communication on the album.

Highlight on Spotify and iTunes. Ads on Shazam and Jamiroquai logo when loading for a title, and advertising bar on the iPhone App.

In France, we have TV spot for the album. (Maybe another Taratata live show ?? ) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHhKeU8WP4k

this is the stuff that was arguably lacking for the last record. RDLS certainly felt a lot less visible than this one. But that might just be coincidence or a result of them having been away and coming back to recognition, I don't know Smile

Just listened the album for the first time..but oh man...
this is one GROOVY album Very Happy
I was listening to it while running in the park, and I was just floating on the grooves the whole time....
How can Shake It On not be a single ?! It sounds so catchy and funky.
For me this album contains all the things I like: heavy bass lines, fast rythm, spacey summervibes...
Yes, it's very electronic but on the other hand it has a really warm and organic sound to it as well.

Counting the days till I can see them playing this live now Smile

I think you're onto something...! This is like JMQ's own version of the most groovy songs in the Late Night Tales compilation.

Summer Girl -- This is a Bond theme, and for some reason evokes images of Ipanema. Again, luxuriating in the 70s lounge feel. Another great chorus, super catchy. Great strings. "She likes to talk politics." Feels tongue in cheek, though I'm not sure it is. Cool horns, strings, and vintage synths to close it out. Excellent.

Migrated this from the review thread, which is languishing without any readers over in the jamiro-talk forum: http://www.jamirotalk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=163784#163784

remember this year bond 25 is on the making? i hope if sounds like that, jay can have it in the soundtrack

Jamiroquai for a bond theme bumpin' heart

Love the idea ! Laughing

Btw, in France the vinyl is out of stock on Amazon !

For the little story : I went to a library near me : 1 cd and two vinyls. I just answered a call, chat with a friend that I met in the cartoon zone, I come back and there ... No more automaton vinyl!

And JK have made an interview with French Website "Konbini" with... strange response ! (Example : Disco vs Funk he chose Disco... etc.

On Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/konbinifr/videos/10155308035429276/

Last thing, after 2 days, Vitamin is the best song. The last 2 minutes are FUCKING GOOD

After 1.5 listens, despite some weak songwriting and questionable musical/production choices, this is the best album they've done since AFO. For me, Vitamin is the best thing they've done in years. Captures the essence of the band quite well.

a 1.5 liten too (this time the actaul CD release. Listened going and coming from doing stuff at home with the baby in the floor with the album on. I have to say it is a VERY VERY VERY NICE album for me. As someone said running in the park with this albums should be great. It is also cool for a warm & groovy athmosphere at home.

Nice to hear that said, I think there is a very strong Roger Moore vibe in the album, think The Spy Who Loved Me, which is high praise from me Smile
