What bad bad sad news! I am in a shock!! Why? Can't believe it! My best wishes for his wife and children! he seemed to be such a nice guy!! And what great music he had composed! I'm sure we all will never forget him, though we didn't know him personally... _________________

Toby, you were along side with Roy Ayers one of my biggest musical heroes. I am so greatfull for the extraordinary music. It will live on my soul. Rest in peace _________________ Away from soliloquies of sadness

RIP Toby. He seemed like the most rational and humble of the band members (not an insult to the others). I loved the interviews where he just seemed to sit there, quietly.
I always wondered how he just walked away.
But the TWM band was the band I discovered Jamiroquai, and I know Toby was a big part of that.
A response to a death can take time.
It's better to send a heart-felt one over a courtesy media response. |

I was very shocked when I first heard the news. It's very sad that Toby passed away at this young age.

My dearest Toby Grafftey-Smith, It has taken me a couple of days to find any kind of words to write to you. I met you as a young boy without much knowledge of anything, especially music. I was lucky enough to spend the next part of my life practically living at your house! (Sorry Gabby) and soaking up the pure genius you are! Those years shaped me and I am eternally gratefully you were so generous with your talent. You were so brave and positive with your illness that sometimes when I was with you, I forgot you were ill. You did more in your life and touched more people than most can dream of and that will live forever my friend. Sometimes people are so charismatic and special it's hard to talk about them with simple words because it is simply impossible to touch the surfaces of who they were, well my vocabulary curtainly comes up short when talking about you.
As a musician I respect you more than anyone I have ever worked with, as a fan I cherish your music and as a friend I love you.
Thank you for everything!
I will miss you so very very much,
Jxxx |

It took a few days to go across the news outlets, but it was fairly widely reported.
Would be nice if there was some kind of tribute featuring Zender, Wallis, etc. I'm sure they'd like to do it. |

Yes, I was surprised by the repercussion. Even Coldplay posted something in their official Twitter account. |

Yeah, it's been pretty crazy. I saw a tweet from the American Recoding Academy as well: https://twitter.com/RecordingAcad/status/852675273921310720 |
