Jamiroquai at North Sea Jazz Rotterdam 9th July 2017
I've just came back from the Netherlands.
The Jamiroquai concert yesterday was a very good one, from a musical point of view probably even the best I attended so far.
Here's yesterday's setlist:
- Shake It on
- Little L
- The Kids
- Space Cowboy
- Emergency On Planet Earth
- Runaway
- Cosmic Girl
- Cloud 9
- Superfresh
- Canned Heat (with a Revolution 1993 intro and outro)
- Love Foolosophy
Special moments during the gig were for me the jazzy fillers Jay sang.
OK, he has always done them, but I think he's constantly improving them and getting really good doing them.
Another special moment were the horn parts of The Kids which were sung by the background vocalists. These parts were perfectly executed and they reminded me of myself, singing along the horn parts when I'm listening to music.
The Reggae vibes on Emergency On Planet Earth weren't bad either, but it takes a bit of time to get used to them.
Even if Jay's back was hurting, from a musical perspective the band was on top. Every musician and singer had their spot in the band and it was producing a complex and harmonic sound which was danceable as well, but that's no news to us. _________________

Good to know!
Every time they play in those jazz festivals they always have a bit more instrumental extended versions with solos. They also avoided Automaton which is much more electronic, which perhaps doesn't fit with the vibe of the festival. |

I've never been a huge fan of Love Foolosophy, but this version is incredible. I would love a copy of this (without the DJ) if anyone manages to source it. |

Check here, summary post for this gig, two audio sources (you might want to get the second one by Javis; only 4 songs aired on Dutch radio), from r/Jamiroquai -> https://redd.it/6m5jos _________________

Pori Jazz 2003? For whatever reason this recent version reminds me to that in some segments. |
