My least favourite song (so far, because I haven't even heard them all yet *GASP* oh my noobness is awful) is Blow Your Mind. It's on one of the cds we have at work (I work in a retail store) and I listened to it for a year hating it and all the other songs they make us play at work. I was flabbergasted when I found out just recently it was a Jam song (I thought a woman was singing it). I'm *trying* to like it... but it just makes me think of work. >_< (But YAY we got a new cd recently and it has Little L on it. woot! )
I've only seen the snippet of the Half The Man vid up at j.co.uk ... arg I don't like the look of it. The hair! noooo |

Hello there,
Hehe, yes brOn, a loot of people thought that Jay was actually a girl singing, but well, at least that is original . I love Blow Your Mind, but I understand that, about listen to a song that reminds you something. For example, I can't listen to 'How Do U See Me Now (20 years)' from Cassius, I had a bad experience when I was listening to that album and that song specially. I understand.
But try to think about this site and all the people supporting the song while you listen to it, think about the video, etc. You will absolutely like it, I don't now a fan who doesn't.
Haha, hope that helps!!!

mmmhmm that's very difficult answering to your questions! By the way... i think that all J' songs are really ...."charming" ' cause every album reflects a period of my life: for example, in EOPE i like so much Too young to die>...i was 18 and i wanted to change world!!! Also Mr. Moon, one of my preferred in absolut... i dedicated it 8 years ago to my actually boyfriend!!! Also Travelling without moving...it recalls in me free spirit; Corner of the earth, so sweet.... |

Hello Jamirotalkers,
I agree with FRA (very nice photo of you on the Jamily section ), every album reflects a period of my life, that is why JMQ is so important to me, no matter there are good or bad videos, music, etc. But I think every album has a track that moves me the most, on EOPE every single one of them is beautiful, Mr. Moon is so sexy to me!!, and you said Travelling..., well to be honest I prefer the live version instead of the album one.

I know you guys are hardcore Jammie-fans, I must be such a newbie to Jamiroquai but I haven't heard the songs on Synkronized but when I think about all those songs I've heard, I think Blow Your Mind is not my favorite. |

My Two Cents:
Stuff I LOVE about JMQ :
1. The Music: C'mon, most of it is excellent. fabulous funk in a day where general music is too commercial.
2. The Fanbase: for example: all of you! you guys are really nice when i ask a question etc., and at least i know that there are alot of people that love real music (unlike my sister, who likes Justin Timberlake and Jessica Simpson ).
3. The Concerts: I have not gone to see a JMQ concert, but after seeing (and owning) the Live In Verona DVD and talking to friends who have seen him (all around the world), i think they must be the best live act!
4. The Lead Singer/Mr. Jamiroquai Himself: Jay Kay shows that you don't have to be a rich bastard/have rich parents to make it big in the music industry. he's a guy that got off the street and has one of the most funkadelic minds ever! (oh, and i love his cars too. excellent taste )
Stuff i HATE about JMQ:
1. Unknown release dates!!!: When is this 6th album going to be "released"??????????????????
2. Lack of US exposure: the land that had born funk now wouldnt know the difference between a JMQ EP and a brick (well, most people). the US of A is a HUGE market and JMQ doesnt get the exposure it so richly deserves. Sony is really stoopid about this. twits.
3. No static (fixed) band: Jay is the only original bandmember. odd.
4. Lack of bandmember exposure: this is my major gripe. ask anyone if Jamiroquai is a singer or a band and most people will say "singer" (the ones who say band are the ones who have bought the albums (or come here )). i know that the 8-album deal through Sony is just for Jay, but Jay should at least try to bring out at least 1 member during an interview. the people need to know!
5. Actual news on JMQ: okay, funkin.com and jamirotalk (you guys ) would get more news on JMQ than the official Jamiroquai site itself, but there are 2 problems here.
firstly, the news from funkin and jamirotalk may be true, but it is still unofficial unless supplied with a press statement, which would come from the official website anyway.
secondly, it proves that Jamiroquai is underexposed, which really does suck.
I don't have any major gripes with the music; all albums are hit and miss. you won't get an albums where all of the songs you will like. for example, on EOPE, i don't really like Revolution 1993. i've just got to be in the mood for it.
but JMQ is probably the best band around right now. don't agree (about what i have written)? then post. and i respect all of what people have written before me. infact, it all makes sense. |

when i bought the TWM cassette for my sister's birthday back in 97, i gave it a quick listen and was like 'what the HELL is this?' i couldn't stand it, and two years later i was bopping my head to Synkronized, the best album i thought i had ever bought at that time
'whatever it is, i just can't stop' is a nice song, but it's a song that's unlucky enough to be slotted in between a bunch of much more wicked tracks!
'stop don't panic' is just a mishmash of futuristic noise...
but a track i always skip without thinking twice is for a day. i dunno why, it just never caught on to me... *shrugs*
BTW i COMPLETELY agree with PietroChocko - right on the dot, dude.
and that's a good point that Evov brought up with the partying - where's the band bonding? if there's no out-of-studio connection then how would you expect members to stay around? the groups who have stood the test of time unbroken are the ones whose members often hang out together without feeling obligated to.
(take care of that voice Jay - you've only got one! ) |
