Bush has Kerry on the ropes
Right now it's right before 1 AM central time, and Bush pretty much has it locked up. There might be lawsuits, recount, etc, but Bush will still come out on top. Im deeply disappointed in Americans for not ousting him from office, but I have to look at some hopeful positives from this.
The United States no matter who won will be deeply divided. It would have been that way whether Bush or Kerry won. Bush can go 2 ways with where he wants to go in the next 4 years. After these next 4 years he can't be re-elected (because the president can only serve two terms). If Bush goes crazy, doesn't change anything, keeps doin what he wants, he'll bury the republican party, and whoever the next candidate is in the next election.
He has promised that there will be no military draft if he's re-elected. Not a lot of people my age believe him. I honestly wonder where I'll be 6 months to a year from now. If he keeps his promise on this, and gains some sense of control in Iraq, he'll gain a little approval. The big way to gain approval, he has to find a way to find other countries to provide U.S. with troops, workers, etc. If he can achieve this, he will gain approval. If he can achieve Iraqi elections (not likely) in January without many problems, he will gain approval.
On the homefront, he needs to provide more healthcare and cheaper healthcare. He needs to improve the economy and find ways to improve the unemployment rate.
On environmental issues, Bush has a proven track record of not caring at all about it. On environmental issues, it's always money and big business vs. the environment. To care about the environment, it's expenseive and usually costs millions. But we need bio-diversity, trees just to f'n breathe, and just have some truly wild areas just to have for scenery, vacations, etc. He doesn't have to totally become and environmentalist overnight, but he has to meet some needs and demands, I guess come ot some middle gorund over these issues, and not just shit on them all the time.
The last and most important thing: I stand by my statement of saying the younger voters (ages 18-30) and minorities definately favor Kerry. Eventhough there is record voter turnout, I get the feeling a lot of young people and minorities (especially in the southern states), didn't get out to vote like Kerry needed them to. A lot of people my age have a hatred for Bush (ask Brent, me, etc.). He needs to really make strides with people around my age to gain confidience with us. Keep his promise about no military draft. Take measures to find ways to get more kids into college, or to make college more affordable. Etc. Etc. Etc.
If I have forgotten or dropped the ball on certain issues, please feel free to add them. So in conclusion, there will be re-counts, disputes, lawsuits, but Im fairly confident Bush will win when it's all said and done. I need to look at the positive side of things now with him serving another term as prez. From the examples listed above, and more that Brent has listed in previous posts, and just other issues, Bush knows what he can do to slowly gain back some confidence and support from the people who hate him. There is a big rift in this country, and there would be if Kerry was elected too. Bush knows what he has to do, I can only hope and pray that he decides to carry them out. _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

what's up Canadian Jam fans!
I may be seeing you sooner than I expected.
This country is dangerously screwed up. I used to think Bush was a moron, but now I know his idiocy is nothing compared to that of the 59 million who voted for him. This is freakin' ridiculous. A deficit-running, torture-condoning, lying, polluting evangelist is the choice of "mainstream America." |

It came down to terrorism and morals. This election showed that the muscle of the religious right in our country, and the effects that war can have. Either way, the country is now more divided than ever, and I've already seen what Britain and Canada have said-it's not good. I also wonder where I'm going to be. I truly believe that if the war doesn't take a drastic turn for the better, then I will be in Iraq in a year from now. Bush has thrown too much into the war to back off now-there is no other option. I wish him the best of luck, and I also wish John Kerry the best in his private life.
I've made my peace with God, and I've washed my hands of this election. Whatever happens now is up to the Lord. God bless America. _________________ "...I feel that Jamiroquai needs to be taken to another stage now. It really does.
