How many gigs?
I am wondering how many shows everybody has seen sofar? Do Jami fans travel a lot to see them play?

I am a Janet Jackson fan for 9 years and have kinda followed her around Europe, been to New York and Japan to see her. Do Jami fans do this or did i just declare myself a complete nutter? Wink

Please share your stories, i love to hear them!

i did recognize the face in your former avatar, but wasn't sure if it was janet jackson or if you just share the same facial features with her :)

i have seen the AFO-tour three times. in berlin and hamburg, germany and in london, UK. so as you can see, jamiro-fans do travel for their gigs.

i have also seen them at rock-am-ring and rock-im-park here in germany. and that was quite a trip. read the review here on the page Wink you will get a good laugh from it, i am sure.

i would certainly travel as far as new york, australia or japan to see them in concert. unfortunalty, i am not able to afford it. but if i win the lottery this weekend, i will go to australia in november for sure. (that's it, if i hit the jackpot)

I saw them 7 times:

1996: .... Berlin

2001: .... Hamburg ..... Berlin ..... London (Brixton)

2002: .... London (Ealing) ..... both German festivals (Rock am Ring & Rock im Park)

My first Jamiroquai gig was a kind of tragedy .... had been there with my Ex-friend for whom I still had loads of feelings and had hopes to get him back somehow, but he didn't want to, so I couldn't really enjoy the concert and had rather sad feelings when I remembered that gig. Neutral

But the AFO tour 2001/2002 compensated this for me. bounce

Especially the Homecoming Gig in Ealing, where they played in front of only 300 lucky winners of a competiton.

You can find reviews of Ealing and the german festivals at this forum, and I remember that I have written some details from the Berlin concert last year. (Do you remember my soap bubbles)

Oh, Bear, if you win, please can I come with you??? love5

i told you once, bear and mouse belong together like jam and iroquai (no, we are NOT married Wink ) and i will stick to this. not like other persons, who agree to this and then fly to london to see a certain gig without the other one. (just kidding Razz but you know, that i have to bring it up)

Sorry to post in this topic so late, but I think it's interesting. I have seen Jami 15 times (god help my bank account!), and it's only in the past year that I have bothered to see them so many times in so many places. I think this tour has made quite a few people want to see Jamiroquai live in lots of places. I couldn't imagine seeing them more than once on the Synk. Tour or the TWM tour! Now I'm willing to fly to America if they ever choose to play there again. I know lots of people who would go to Australia next month if they had the cash. Why do you think that is? Why now and not before?

It seems like the thing to do nowadays. I remember people said i was crazy to go to 10 shows of Janet Jackson back in 1995. When she came back to Europe in 1998 all of a sudden more fans went to multiple shows, even went to the US for concerts. I see the same thing with other artists. With the Prince tour there are fans that go to every concert he does in Europe. I think fans are more crazy LOL. No, seriously, i think it's because it's easier to get tickets for concerts in foreign countries now with the internet and all. In 1995 it was a pain to get tickets or even to find out the dates!

When and if Jamiroquai tour again i already know i can't just attend one show. I know I will see more. Especially because i never seen them live before, it's like making up for lost time...

Yeah Ezbe, it's the same here with me. :2yes:

On the TWM tour I saw them one time in Berlin, because it was the nearest place to my home. I would have never thought about going to several concerts from the same band and the same tour at that time. Nobody of my friends did this. It's usual to go to only one concert. That should be enough.

I missed the Synk tour because I was pregnant. SurprisedP

:jay6: With the AFO tour something changed. I enjoyed Jamiroquai in Hamburg in the first row. I was so impressed from the whole show, I loved the stage and the lightshow...everything. I immediately had the wish to see them again! bounce

At this time I started to get in contact with other fans through the internet. 5computer Reading all the concert reviews and messages from other fans from the whole world made me think about to fullfill my dream to see another concert fo the AFO tour.
If I had been alone with my wish, well I think I wouldn't have bought another ticket for Berlin. But there had been a Bear who was as fanatic as myself and so the decision to spent more money for this band was much easier for me. stoned

Well, and after the second gig we still wanted more, so we bought very expensive tickets for London... :ballaballa:

To know that other fans are also doing this crazy things was a confirmation for me that it is okay to do so.

To sum up: the internet unites the fans 2grouphug and commits them on the band. The music and the show isn't the only reason to go to a gig anymore, it's also the possibility to meet other Jamily-members. It's the whole experience that makes me go again and again.

And yes, if I had the money and the time, you could definately see me in the first row of several Aussi gigs! 2upsidedown

Hmm, that all made a lot of sense. I definitely agree with what Ezzi said about the internet making things easier with regards to buying tickets and travel. I suppose it's never been cheaper to fly to other countries.

Plus, we have a such a big and well established community. Going to Jami gigs now is like a social event. We meet up with old friends and make new ones. I've met so many people that I talk to on the net this year at Jami gigs. So, it makes it easier to go to lots of gigs cos you're not on your own.

Isn't it beautiful? clapping

Good question

Very Happy Good question Ezbe!

I also have been wondering 2scratchchin for a long time why I got crazy about Jami so recently and would be ready to travel abroad to attend other concerts of the AFO hat AFO tour.

From my point of view, the AFO tour is not Jami's best tour, if you compare with the older ones big hat alright supersonic white .
Still, I was 2melting overwhelmed by the gig I saw in Berlin last October... because it was the first I saw of Jami, like CosmicMouse.
This led me to be a so-called fan .....although I had been listening to their music for years without getting 2banghead obsessed about it.
So why now and not before ?

I completely agree with your points of view on the internet.
2grouphug The contacts with other fans gives a wonderful human touch that makes me enjoy being a "jami fan". It is so thrilling offwall to share something with other people who are different. At the Rock Im Park concert, I cannot tell if I was more excited to see the band play or to meet Mouse and Bear.
The internet also feeds my passion biglove about jamiroquai thanks to the informations and the audio/video material that it supplies.
