10th Anniversary of "Return of the Space Cowboy"!
Hello,
This would count as a premature or really late tribute post, but aww heck, the 2nd Jamiroquai album deserves it ! Oct. 19th of this past year & May 9th of 2005 (For the states) will mark the 10th Anniversary of the release of the 2nd Jamiroquai album "Return of the Space Cowboy"! To many old school Jami fans of the first album, "Space Cowboy" only made and solidified Jamiroquai's place in Music and brought more and more new fans into the underground buzz of Jam. "Space Cowboy" was the most curious & expansive of the Jamiroquai albums, starting with JK's Ode to...not his Enzo, but for Marijuana, "Space Cowboy", then slipping and sliding through the cool shuffle dancer track "Stillness In Time", the ancestry track "Manifest Destiny", to the chilling telling of modern youth of "The Kids", the comforting fuzz of "Morning Glory", the ruckus of "Light Years", the yonder boatride of "Journey to Arnhemland", the love prelude of "Half The Man", among the most notable songs. To me, "Space Cowboy" was better than I could have imagined for a 2nd album from ANY BAND, it was a opus, plain and true. Please leave your thoughts this album, most interested in reading your thoughts about it ! Thanks for listeninig and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

This is probably my favorite album. Every song is good, and unique too.
We should remember that JK wanted Just Another Story as the first track, and Space Cowboy as the last track, and he thought it was wrong for SONY USA to swtich the track order and put a live recording at the end.
But yes, good stuff, backwards of forwards I hope album six will be comparable to ROTSC. Because it got me really hooked at Jamiroquai. |

Yes....i think this is the best JMQ album, absolutely...for me JMQ is and will be forever the Space cowboy of this funk odissey, forever. Ten years ago the ROTSC contributed "shaping" my life and making me look at it in a different prospect....so as the ROTSC revolutionized my 20's, i hope new album 'll do it the same with my 30's! _________________

Hello Jamirotalkers,
Wow, 10 years since the release of 'The Return of the Space Cowboy' .
This is the last Jamiroquai album I bought in 1999 -first one was Synkronized- and I think it represents how an album should be. I am not talking about the style of the album, but the mood it represents. The songs are in a cohesive order and is also a great example of the 'curse of the second album' of a band that had success in the first one.
And yes, I agree, 'Space Cowboy' is one of the best songs of all time... I am not saying this as a fan, but the song is beautiful, even when they played it live all this years... all those different versions and still the song remains fantastic.
Thanks for that tribute Jamirofan.

A solid album from top to bottom. That being said, I don't know why JK got in such a huff over switching the songs for the U.S. release-I like the flow.
Some songs are very complex, and if Jam is going to continue with this direction they're on, I would hope they bring some of this complexity back at least. Of course, if they switch directions outright, then that's good too. _________________ "...I feel that Jamiroquai needs to be taken to another stage now. It really does. Hello there,
Just wanted to add that Jay decided to put 'Just Another Story' as the first track to give the album a certain mood. Sony later decided to switch the song with Space Cowboy and he didn't like that, but there was nothing he can do about. You know... Sony VS artists... and old story.

10 years....wow...where does the time go??? I have to agree with the fact ROTSC is a great album as a whole. And I too hope that they bring back some of that old sound back. _________________ I used to worry about the future

It is indeed an event to celebrate! I guess I'm celebrating it by posting here again
It reminds me I'd really like to do a cover vesion to scam that would combine the good qualities of both the studio version and the live versions (primerly the one from jazziroquai) along with more keys in the verses. _________________
