Worst Disaster In History
Would like your ideas and thoughts on what you feel was the worst disaster in history is.
I chose the current disaster in Asia but 9/11 comes in at a close second and the 1945 atomic bombings come in a close 3rd for me.

I think the worst thing that happened in history is the invention of the gun and all the things that came later (bombs, missils... etc).
Or maybe the Man itself...

kmack, when you say disasters, do you mean single events or over a few (hundred) years?
i think you forgot:
* tianamen square (1989, china)
* apartheid (south africa, who knows when-1994)
* the plight of blacks in southern USA (watch mississippi burning, 1600's-now)
* robert mugabe, zimbabwe (mid 90's-now, worse than ever)
* HUNGER IN AFRICA (late '50s-now and for more)
i'd pick the hunger in africa. all related to guns. the african govt's would rather spend money on guns rather than their people. |

Where is the nuclear catastrophe, Chernobyl 1986?
The current issue seems very sad because my friend's 7 months old cousin has died because of it:( not fair.

Okay....anyway, too world disasters happened during years and i think that noone of them can be figured "badder" than other one....just my opinion....and what about children which die everyday for eating nothing or people for drug, alchol or for mafia?
This is a sad poll...with no way of out.....world problems will never solve......

for me the greatest disaster was a war here in croatia,that serbians started and slaughtered my people,and so they continued and killed in albanians in kosovo...  "black crow" is dedicated to victims in Kosovo

Again I'm in agreement....as I have explained to starman. I was there (delivering sorties with medical supplies) when the shit really hit the fan. I lost several friends there.

Yes I agree Fra but this is for single moment Disaters not plagues and I also agree this isn't a very happy poll/post but this is part of life...the never ending circle of life. There can't be one without the other.

well it was pretty shitty in croatia during that war. personaly i was in split so i didn't saw the war itself but i now what happened. lot of fugitives were in my place. today is peace thank God.
