is jamiroquai a band or just one man
i always get the same sh!t "jamiroquai oh i know him" "jamiroquai he is cool" " ohh jamiroquai he sucks"
and i wonder why i wonder WHY does everyone consider jamiroquai just one person it could be because ................
jay kay is the only band member featured in "little l" "corner of the earth" "cosmic girl" "canned heat" etc etc etc even if jamiroquai band members are in it there only a tiny cameo appearence the only film clip i can remember the hole band in is supersonic
on the live in verona dvd in bonus content the little documentry on "jamiroquai" is just jay on a plane and prancing aroudn and talking
on afo jay is on like 7/12 pages in the booklet the rest where lyrics or buffalo man images
on the "offical website" www.jamiroquai.co.uk the little images on the main menu are of jay and the site has images of just jay
even funkin.com has interveiws from like jaykay but thats all magazines publish
id love to see more publicity as a band not just one front man sure jay sings but the music doesnt just create it self! does any one agree with me?

Ofcourse Jamiroquai is a band.
The fact that the frontmen is the most exposed and the most popular member of the band doesnt change a thing. A great band needs to have a leader and thats exactly what Jay Kay is. |

Yeah, and Jay is a brilliant frontman. Still, most people i know, when asked if they know Jamiroquai they will say, oh hes cool (or usually oh he sucks ) _________________ Fascist.

That's it! Really!
If i say "Duran Duran" u answer: "Simon Le Bon", "Spandau Ballet" - "Tony Hadley", "Wham" - "George Michael"....and so on.
For me, i have said this concept for several times, JAMIROQUAI is THE band, is like a life style, a life conception.
JMQ=Freedom, Good Vibe Zone, Earth, The Buffalo Man....

(Gets a nice and hearty laugh at the topic title)
Hello,
That is REALLY funny, but a honest truth, at least in the American mainstream perception of Jamiroquai . I mean, the seasoned music fan can easily appreciate the muscial achievements of Jay Kay and the past and current bandmembers, as where the part-time music fan can follow the lead of the Mainstream and recollect about certain Jami songs ( "Virtual Insanity" 1000% of the time concerning Americans !). I know it irks most fans that Jamiroquai is looked at like this , but keep in mind that these people haven't had or taken the time that we took to learn the "truth in the music" fully, there is some "Peace of Mind" for you ! Thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

THAT'S THE POINT!!!! That's Jay Kay's band!!!
he had the idea of the group, he create the group, that's not a band, is Jay Kay's band... and that's the true... he can do whatever he want with the musicians... why, just cos that's his band! and if that's his band, he's gonna be everywhere... that's my point of view... critics are accepted... _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

It's similar to Simply Red. Mick Hucknall foundet the band and is the leader - and the members change very frequently. |

Yes! I second that. The only band I can compare with Jamiroquai is Simply Red. It started as a band and it became a hugh success with 'Stars', they sold like 9 million copies (I compare this with TWM), and then this was never repeated. Very much like JMQ.
And they've been in the scene too much to change the name, so now it can be said it is Mick Hucknall's career with the name of Simply Red, with different musicians rotating.
Maybe JK can start a soloist career, but after 14 years with the name Jamiroquai, it is easier for him to go on with it, even thought the original bandmembers are no longer with him.

I think Jamiroquai is 60% Jay Kay and 40% the rest of the bandmembers.
There is no jamiroquai without Jay. If you remember in the advertisement of that Japonesse cell phone or something wehad some recordings of Jay saying: -hello, it´s Jamiroquai. |

I think it's a band. If it was one man, JK would have gone with what Sony wanted and not ask for help from people like Stuart Zender, Nick Van Gelder, and of course Toby Smith (not to mention others later on) at the turn of the decade. _________________ "...I feel that Jamiroquai needs to be taken to another stage now.
