The Chemical Brothers 'Push The Button'- Review by D!
Hello Jamirotalkers,

THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS
'PUSH THE BUTTON'
Review By D!

In 1999 when I was becoming a fan of JMQ I bought Surrender, but I didn't pay much attention to it until I bought Come With Us in 2002. 'Star Guitar' blew my mind (the song and the video), so I listened the other 3 albums in a different way, so I started to appreciate The Chemical Brothers as they are.

The other day I bought their 5th studio album Push The Button with high expectations. The single 'Galvanize' was ok, but I was hoping more 'Got Glint?'/'Star Guitar' kind of songs. When I first listened to it, I thought 'Oh well... I guess I'll have to listen to it a few more times cause I don't like it that much'. So, after a few more times, I realized there are great tunes on it. OK. It is not another Dig Your Own Hole, one of their best works, but it has some highlights.

'The Boxer' might be a great single, while 'Hold Tight London' puts you in a different mood.
'Come Inside' reminds me to 'Block Rockin' Beats' and is one of my personal favorites. After this one, 'The Big Jump' appears and caught me instantaneously.
I don't like 'Left Right', it might have been better if they put it as a B side song or something like that, cause it has nothing to do with the rest of the album.
'Close Your Eyes', however, is perfect. 'Shake Break Bounce' starts good, but then goes nowhere.
'Marvo Ging' is like ' The Private Psychedelic Reel', it's ok but you get tired of hearing it.
'Surface To Air' closes the album, and it's a great great song. Just what I was hoping this album to be.

It is not a masterpiece. But is not a bad album. It represents another step for the Chemical Bros, with elements taken from hip hop. It could be a mix between Dig Your Own Hole and Surrender. Give it a try.

'Or we will fall and die?'

I didn't like Galvanize at all. I thought it was too slow, and the rap in the middle by Q-Tip didn't do anything for me. I'm hoping they have a better second single released.

Sounds true Catman, but I'm sure it won't beat the more "traditional" stuff Shocked

Hello there,

'Believe' is going to be the next single, according to what I've heard.

Did you realize all the albums titles are orders?

EXIT planet dust
DIG your own hole
SURRENDER
COME with ut
PUSH the button

Hehe... they want us to do what they say!!!!
