my opinion:
 JMQ has an image of being a single person (ie soloist).
To the general public, Jamiroquai is a person. No if's or buts about that. Very very VERY few people know that Jamiroquai is a band, and those people are the ones who own/have an album or have researched into JMQ.
Look at the symbol for the band!!! It's a Buffalo Man. It would be mighty nice having a Buffalo Band image, but that doesnt exist, or hasn't been copyrighted yet. And yes, i have seen the picture of it.
Jamiroquai has a bad public image of being a person that does make good music, but is one guy who speaks his mind when he shouldnt and/or is a bit stupid. alot of people i talk to say this about JMQ, then i tell them that it is a band, not a person. that doesn't sway them; they still hate him/the band.
and i think that Jay will wear a red hat on tour. |

well AFO was very blue colouring wasnt it. I rekon the dynamite set is gonna be dark strong colours nothing placid like blue or yellow or green

i think jamiroquai it's a band, but jay kay is most of it. jamiroquai could live without stuart (huge, terrible lost) toby, and other members, but it would die without jay. that's mi oppinion.

honestly, when i first saw the virtual insanity video, i thought he was a one-man act. but once i got hold of the cd, i was like,"ooohhh, a band."
hehe. true, there is no Jamiroquai without Jay Kay. Maybe that was his intention when he started this whole thing, he had a band..but it was his band. Fortunately, his band members were so good, that they made a name for themselves. The comment about the symbolism about the Buffaloman is highly possible.
But, let us not forget that there can also be no Jamiroquai without a band. Jay Kay would have never gotten this far without his band.
In EOPE and ROTSC, Jamiroquai was often (if not MOST of the time) showed in videos as a whole band. In TWM -Virtual Insanity, he was solo in the video--a famous one at that, probably the most famous Jamiroquai video to date. Remember, this was the album and video -Virtual Insanity- that hit the mass audience... afterwhich they got really famous. The rest of the videos (esp. in SYNKRONIZED and AFO) showed mostly him. Maybe that's why people remember him as Jamiroquai, the guy dancing so gracefully around in a white moving room.
but hey, that's just my opinion

jay kay IS jamiroquai..toby,stuart,derrick,wallis and the rest ARE his musicians...jay the one who recruited them..wrote most of the songs and so on...so Jamiroquai is Jay Kay...i wouldnt say that Toby is Jamiroquai tho..i will put it as Toby of Jamiroquai...

SIMPLE:
JAY IS THE ONE WHO SIGNED SONYS 8 ALBUMS CONTRACT. THIS MEANS THAT HE TAKES CHARGE OF PAYING ALL THE OTHER MUSICIANS IN THE BAND, AND THE ONE WHO HAS TO ASIST TO AL THE CONFERENCES NO MATTER WHAT. THATS WHY HE´S MUCH MORE EXPOSED THAT AL THE OTHER BANDMEMBERS. THATS ONE OF THE FACTORS THAT MADE STU LEAVE THE BAND, IT´S OBVIOUS THAT NOBODY IN THE BAND WINS AS MUCH AS JAY DOES.
THATS WHY IN MOST OF THE VIDECLIPS JAY IS THE ONLY ONE THAT APPEARS.
AND THATS WHY MOST OF THE PEOPLE SEE JAMIROQUAI AS ONE MAN. PERSONALLY I HAT WHEN PEOPLE SEE ONLY JAY AS JAMIROQUAI, BUT THERE´S NOTHING TO DO ABOUT IT.
BESIDES ALL THAT I SEE JAM AS A BAND!!!!

Jamiroquai is a band, but everybody thinks it's only Jay Kay, so, there's nothing left to do about it... and that's too bad...
and that's what Stuart wanted when he was with Jamiroquai, treated the same as Jay Kay, cos they were supposed to be a band... and Stuart Zender is not an idiot... i'd hav done the same thing...

I agree with what Nico said, but I don't agree with what Ed said... I mean, If I were Stuart Zender I wouldn't have never left the band because I want to be treated the same as Jason, because from the beggining he knew that Jay was the only one who signed with Sony, and the rest of the band were (I'm sorry, but it's the truth) like his employers. Where a captain gives the ordres, a sailor can't, if you know what I mean. It's like us at school, our teacher can do whatever they want to do, even eat in front of our faces, and when we told this to the celator she said "don't expect to have the same rights as the teachers because, although they are not superior (they're humans like you), they are your authority". It's not fair, but there's nothing we can do to change it. It was obvious that Jay was gonna be the center of the attention, so leaving because he wanted the same attention as him, I think that's not a logical excuse. They are a band for us, the fans, but that doesn't mean they're like a family, I see that from a more professional level, like an office where some of them like the boss, and some don't. You can leave because you don't like him, but not because you want the same attention as him.
However, I am really sad that Stu left the band, the same as Nick, Toby and Wallis. But there's nothing we can do... It's the sad truth
I'm sure I will be hated because of this, but don't take it too seriously, it's just my opinion

Well thats what I´m trying to say. We are fans of Jamiroquai and we know everything about this band... we feel mucho more atraction that anyother and thats why we know all we know about the band, because we are intrested in knowing about it... but ohter people aren´t as fans as we are.... they just like what they see on TV or listen in the radio... they don´t care if the one in the video is jak kay a stunt man, jays brother or the coreographer... they don´t care weather Jamiroquai is the one performing on the video, they don´t care if the one performing is a dancer higered by the band.... they just relate an image to a name... they relate jays image to JAMIROQUAI.
