| Microsoft created HTML, the explorer... |
Ouch! As a web design teacher, hearing that hurt! Don't know wher eyou got your info from, but HTML was not created by Microsoft. It was created by a man at CERN.
Firefox IS the better browser. Much safer surfing for one. Second, it reads CSS more properly than IE...and well, I guess I'm just repeating what other's have said. I've been using it for a year now. I'm very happy with it and refuse to go back to IE!
(Tabbing is the best! Especially if you have an extension that targets _blank to new tabs and not new windows ) _________________

yep is true... i saw all my books and i saw it's true... thanks for that! but i'm on Microsoft's side... i really don't know what's people problem with them? is their monopoly? maybe cos his president is one of the most rich person in all the world??? who knows? but there's always a lot of people sayin' that Microsoft and their softwares sucks! Maybe Firefox is a great Explorer... but why people say that IE is the greatest shit in the world?? what hav this explorer did to you?? _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

What has it done to me?
It's allowed countless numbers of adware to download itself and install on my computer making it completely unusable. And it's done it over and over and over again. So bad to the point where even the good adware eliminating programs couldn't get rid of it all. I've had to go into my registryand edit it all out every time. It was always painstakingly tedious, and there was the risk of screwing up my registry and therefore my computer. Friends of mine had gotten it so bad they've had to reformat their harddrive (because they didn't know how to do the registery thing, and the good adware-ridding programs weren't getting rid of it either). It happened nearly every time I surfed the net.
That reason alone had me switch off it permanently. What kind of "good software" allows something like that to happen?
It's also messed up my websites by not reading the CSS correctly. If I want something 1px wide, then it should be 1px wide. But IE likes to do whatever it likes with it.
See, the problem with Microsoft isn't so much that it's a monopoly or whatnot. The problem is a lot of their software is so faulty it becomes irritating. I do beilieve they might be getting better with that. But until then, I'm sticking to alternatives for somethings, like FireFox. Because right now IE is not at all up to par with it.
And finally, all this crap about 70%(or whatever the number was) of people using it because they think it's the best is NOT true. The reason why so many people use it is because most people buy PCs with Windows on them. Windows, being microsoft, will have usually only microsoft programs on it IE being one of them. Most people don't realize you can go download another browser if needed. A lot of people just stick with what they have. Not becasue they love it somuch, but because it's all they know. But as people learn more they change their minds.
Heh. Who knew I could write so much about a browser? lol _________________

let's not forget that when you learn how to use something using one tool, you tend to say that using that tool is the best thing, even though there will be better tools on the market.
the same philosiphy applies to IE and FireFox. FireFox is clearly superior, but most will just say IE is supreme because they are oblivious (or ignorant) of other web programs.
and let's not forget the other arguement: most people just don't need anything better than IE. most, but not all.
there are clearly better xplorers on the market (free, that is), but most people just don't have those better ones because they just don't need them. |

Yes, make the switch! I don't know how the new IE will be, or when it's coming out. Maybe good, maybe worse, maybe better. Who knows? But I say switch to FireFox now. It's got a great pop-up blocker as well already installed. And you won't have to worry about the adware. And the tabbed surfing is great. You'll never have to have more than one browser window open again _________________

I also hear Opera is good, but I never triied it. For a while you had to pay for Opera, but I think they just recently released a free version or something. But I do hear it's good as well _________________

yeah is free! But if you want the full things you got to regist it!
But the things that got free is very nice! You can put all in one window (with the tabs obvius!) : Irc ,Email,Browser!
Also got many skins what is very cool!
I recomend that..but got a tiny problem...well at least on my computer, is a bit slow when is to open the main window! But beside that! Is very good!

Firefox version 1.0.1 is now available for Mac & PC.
This is a security update, which closes loopholes that allow URLs to be faked to look like the originals. A security company called Secunia has set up a test for you to try on your current browser:
http://secunia.com/multiple_browsers_idn_spoofing_test/
If your browser is open to this loophole, then on the test site, the address bar will show that you are on Paypal, while you are in fact still on Secunia's site. This loophole is exploitable in a number of other browsers as well as Firefox. Internet Explorer is not affected, merely because it doesn't implement the feature used by the loophole.
Keep safe out there folks !! |

thanks mainvein! I actually just downloaded the update a few hours ago. So I clicked on that link of yours just to check and I got the correct site. Woo!
It's important to keep your stuff updated so it doesn't get exploited for it's vulnerabilities _________________
