A Funk odyssey and Synkronized
just refering to what kierian was saying, i think AFO is a good album is shows the band are developing to meet how music should be made in this day and age. I don't believe its the best album, i think that would go go ROTSC or TWM. But i don't know how you can't like 'Where do we go from here' its and amazing track, along with 'Planet home' which i love aswell
i agree that BDC sounds good, im just loving the guitar rift.

My expectations of the new album
Hi all,
since a few days (to be exact: since the news about the boys playing in LA at Sony BMG conference) I am on fire!
I have the feeling that finally something is happening, and I feel that we will hear interesting things very soon...
So, as you can see, I am getting exited about the new album - finally!
...so it is high time for me to write down my expectations of the new release. I will slip in some facts that we collected and grined out in the past year full of eager for information...
First of all, we know that the new album will be more raw, with more live instruments, less computers. Matt told us so in the Jamirotalk-interview:
| Quote: |
Matt J.: I think it will be more live instruments, less computers. Also, I think the sound will be more raw.
|
From the same interview we got to know that Matt was fully involved into the writing process of the new songs. And so was Rob. From that facts I suppose the direction to be very rocky and funky. In combination with Jay's voice this surely will sound great!! The working title "Dynamite" illustrates this.
A lot of fans expect the boys going back to the sound of the old school acid jazzy times of EOPE and TROTSC, but I don't think this will really happen.
Here a quote from Matt Johnson, taken from the interview at frenchiroquai:
| Quote: |
| The minute you start going back in life you've accepted the best is over and you are lost. I feel people should not dwell on one part of the bands history but embrace it's development, that music was of it's time and is great but cannot be repeated. I think the sound will be more live, more raw and I hope it won't disappoint. |
Otherwise, Derrick McKenzie told us through funkin.com that they are going back to their roots, with the new album...
| Quote: |
| In addition to the changes within the band (i.e., Nick leaving), Jamiroquai spent a long time and have gone "back to our roots and kept the majority of the album live and kicking". |
What else do we know?
There will be brass at the new album! YES! Jerry Hey was working on the horn section:
Link: http://www.441records.com/jerryhey.asp
The producer is Mike Spencer.
| Quote: |
| The album is being produced by Mike Spencer, who has worked with artists including Kylie and Beverley Knight, and "he has managed to make the band sound flipping brilliant." Derrick also said "when it comes to production he is an absolute genius and deserves a lot of credit for what he has done with the sound and our performances on the album." |
They used different bass players for the recordings.
| Quote: |
| A selection of bass players have been used to give a different feel to some of the tracks. The band have used Alex Meadows, Derrick McIntyre (Roy Ayers) and Randy Hope-Taylor (Incognito, Jeff Beck). Julian Crampton, another well respected bass player, has been used on a mix of one of the tracks that Derrick McKenzie has worked on. |
Ah, and then we got that little snippet of Black Devil Car...
It's like a misterious puzzle. If we'd put all the little scraps of news together, we can perhaps get a feeling on how the album number 6 will sound...
I can only speak for myself... I have a damn good feeling.
Altogether: I expect the new album to be rocky, funky, fast, dynamic and first of all: very unique
It will be good! I just know it!!!

YES.......That sounds wonderful.........very good links, thanks!
hopefully we won't be let down.
I think that it will be a good recording, the musicians on the tour now seem to be very well seasoned.
That is good.
As far as Destitute Illusion goes: I listened to the shit out of that song,
I would drive through the forest on the way to get my cannabis ---just blasting that in my car! Once a week !
You might have to be really HIGH to enjoy it , it's a very trippy tune.
peace my friends |

nice post CosMouse, I think "dynamic" is a keen observation. despite the veil of ignorance we fans have been kept behind, it's clear that the band has been working with a lot of different people, from LA to Chillington and who knows where else. I have a feeling that Jay has big ambitions for this record, and whatever happens, it's gonna be one helluva show. |

Hey!
Well, Jamiroquai have been out of the spotlight for a while now and I'm expecting them to come back with a bang! 'Dynamite' is therefore a very appropriate name for the new album. I feel that it will attract a new generation of fans aswell as rekindle the interest of existing ones by incorporating new sounds together with the formula that has worked so well for them up until now.
My expectations, as always, are high. I am sure that they won't disappoint us!

I just hope Dynamite will blow my mind. I don't care if it's jazzy, disco or funky, I'll judge the album according to what it makes me feel. _________________

Yes Flor you are absolutely right. Titles mean nothing and why do we have to categorize all things? It is right...you go for a music or not...just out of the feeling in your belly, heart and soul _________________

What do I expect from the album? The usual: a collection of catchy, intelligent, energetic songs which will make the likes of Eminem, Beyoncé, Missy Elliot and Aerosmith run away and hide filled with embarrassment... |

I really don't know why yet... but I think "Dynamite" will be a success... I know this is not the subject of the topic, but I don't know... I think Jamiroquai will win many awards (some Grammy maybe?). I mean, Jamiroquai are much better than all the bands and solists that "reign" today in the music bussiness. They do REAL music, not that britney pop, or that robbie williams pop.
I've already said what I expected from this new album, but I didn't know in which topic should I put this post into, and I needed to express myself _________________
