i was about to say the same! i think they have had to add overlays because he can only sing that high in that breathless kinda voice. i guess he just don't sing like he used to! _________________ Have to get UP to get DOWN

Well, the guy is 35 years old! If he's smart, he'll realize his limitations and keep the range he's still got in kick-ass shape. He's still a good singer, but in order to sing that high again, he's gonna need somebody kicking him in the jewels, you know. _________________ "...I feel that Jamiroquai needs to be taken to another stage now. Sounds good to me....
Thanks for the download Brightside! After hearing this small clip of the song, I have to say I'm impressed with it. Some crazy effects on Jay's voice though.
I wasn't a big fan of 'Deeper Underground', but if that song hit #1 for them a few years back, I can't see how FJLIS won't do at least as good.

WOAWWW! what's that???? it's absolutely jay, i'm almost sure! i can be wrong, but it's jay! only his voice is older and faked by the computers! i like the "yaaaouuhhhh'! 'feels just like it should......" how it continues??? This is what i hear something like....
i did it for the first time
i need a little ('m nearly in the) sugar spice yaaaaouhhh
i wanna see the city lights
(i'm don't afraid of lovers) or (i'm gonna find another)
feels just like it should...

ok, it IS jay's voice. the "yaaaouuhhhh' makes it clear. and his whsipering voice at 10 secondes.
and does anyone else think that the refrain and song structure is similar to black devils car? funk and disco and rock elements
will the whole album be rock?
what about the promised spanish music influence - and the back-to-the-roots promise? |

i think you can forget that, because this is like black devil car, nothing which goes to the back to the roots, it's rocky , black devil car and feels just like it should are in the same "direction", only the black devil car sample that we have isn't so worked by the studios like FJLIS! _________________ All of my vision were untrue Till I had a vision of YOU |

I agree, McFly, it reminds me on BDC!
But did you really expect spanish influenced music? That rumour was really old and they didn't promise "back-to-roots-sound". Every comments that came from the band were directing into a raw, funky rocky new sound.
There were two interesting postings that brought together some facts that we collected about the new album:
Find the message from me, it's a long message on page 2...

And here a collection of Jay's comments about the new album, posted by Diego:

Thanks a lot for sharing the snippet, brightside!! It really rocks!!

I am still expecting at least one song to be more spanish-like. maybe just a part of it. like planet home and salsa maybe.
of course not the whole album, that will never happen.
and the acid jazz elements- well - why something old when there is something new...
but the background of black devils car reminds me a little of the first albums elements.
if the whole album is like bdc , shoot the moon, fjlis and canabliss (even if those ar enot on the album) I will still like it a LOT. |

i really hope that canabliss won't be on the album, i don't like that that's too much!
but the sample of fjlis, is interesting, because my feelings for it drives me crazy, the first time i hear it i was surprised and also not, the second time i didn't liked it, and now i'm hearing it all the time and i like it very much, it's not too much rocky, it's just "perfect"! _________________ All of my vision were untrue Till I had a vision of YOU |

Thanks for the sample
BUT, I don't like it one bit. It's not Jamiroquai's style at all IMO and I think JK is losing his touch. I thought that AFO was pushing it a bit, but this is just downright not Jamiroquai like I know and love. That, to me, sounds just like any other track you'd hear on the radio, in that it's nothing special.
It reminds me of BDC, which I didn't really like but I could get used to it, but this is worse. It's too rocky, and rock wasn't what got me into Jamiroquai, it was FUNK. The effects on the vocals is sh!t, and if the whole album is like this, I'll be very, VERY disappointed.
I won't automatically say "I love it" just because it's Jamiroquai . First, all this titting about with the album, which is even more delayed now, and now this. Just what I like.
That's my opinion _________________ By Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II - Now legally Licenced to navigate the Public Highways again.
