opinions are opinions... and i hate it... that's not Jamiroquai... hope Jay Kay and his "funksters" are reading this... Wink cos now i hate their new material... no man i'm joking... i do not hate it, i just don't like it... cos i thought it was going to be pretty funky... and it's not... let's wait for the entire album... now there's more people thinking like me...

isn't this a bit like judging the restaurant by knowing only one dish from the whole menu ? Smile

i know, you said it yourself, that the rest of the album could be cool. that's why i left the sentence in your quote Wink

Perhaps...
I'm still eager to hear the rest of the album...hopefully there'll be tracks on there to redeem FLIS

Jamiroquai were cutting edge back in 96 or 97 because of their live sound. Meaning, the albums had actual live playing on them and not sampled loops etc. The whole Jamiroquai entity was about live music, keeping it real, being down to earth, and everything they did reflected that...from their videos with the band members participating to their live shows which often gave each of the players solo spots. That's why so many musicians, like myself, liked them so much.

But I think's it's fair to say that Jamiroquai have become almost the antithesis of what they orginally set out to be. Now they're this pop band with an effects laiden single complete with vocoded looped bass lines and a bunch of other "ear candy" noises slapped together over Jay's voice. It seems as though their success was what changed them....as Sony sought to make more money off em they've systematically conformed the band to market dictated formula. The result has been the departure of the original genuine musicians and these pre-fabricated, pro-tooled, attention-deficit-disorder messes. I mean if you listen to any of the famous live boots from the TWM era back, Synkronized and AFO is just derivative and pretentious rubbish. Even though in retrospect I think Synkronized was better than AFO.

Me too, i heard the full version of FJLIS and it's great.
Certainly, it's very different from the JMQ sounds we used to know, more skanky (is it true Mike ????).
Anyway, i like it Wink

I think it's terrible pop-music trash...
it kinda reminds of Deeper Underground but of course I liked that track
this one however has gone fully over to the dark-side
Jamiroquai used to be a restaurant with genuine chefs....now they're more like a fast-food joint

I don't think this track is any great departure from AFO, in fact Little L was much better

just goes to show what happens when you lose all your original musicians, they were the sound of Jamiroquai in its zenith, this latest offering proves it without a doubt

i seriously dont think that this track even sounds 1bit remotly like pop-music ... i dun think it will make it in the usa charts!

Firstly I'd like to say I love the pic you've got of Keanu Reeves cos I love Keanu Reeves! I too prefer the older sound but unfortunately I haven't heard feels just like it should because it hasn't arrived in South Africa yet! Mad

As long as i have understood the lyrics, J sings about sex, sex, sex - without love, so the style fits to it imho. A too funky groovy smooth stlye would probably not express J's feelings about it. Wink

Oh and I am still absolutely convinced that the album WILL BE great! Remember what D.R. said about the new tracks that he has heard?

Quote:
I've been fortunate enough to have heard a few tracks from Dynamite and in
my opinion (if its worth anything), if the rest of the album is anything
like the tracks on the sampler, then it's going to be great. Every track
I've heard is great, and has its own funky style. Feels Just Like It Should
DOES NOT indicate what the rest of the album (at least based on the sampler)
sounds like. However, Feels Just Like It Should goes down superbly well
when performed live.

D.

I just believe that man! Very Happy

This is the first time I am disappointed about a first single of an album. I find the song a bad rip-off from Deeper Underground (which is not a fav song to me either)!

Look at the history:

EOPE - When you gonna learn
TROTSC - Space Cowboy
TWM - Virtual Insanity
SYNK - Canned Heat
AFO - Little L

These are all very good singles and have done (very) well in the charts. I'm affraid that FSJIS is NOT going to top the charts. That doesn't bother me as much as how bad the song really is Sad.

Like I said, I'm very disappointed and I too expect that the album will have good songs on it, so I'll just wait and see.

You never know it just might, most of us here love the old 'style' that JMQ possessed, with FJLIS it's most defo not there.

It might just appeal to the masses.
