Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

The winner is TRAVIS (Best British Group).

So Jamiroquai failed to win the BRIT AWARDS once again. I can't believe it!!! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

But I am curious to see the performance of Jay & Anastacia. They did "Bad Girls", didn't they? Very Happy

I am so glad they DID NOT win the Brit award
Yes! This proves that our beloved JAMIROQUAI flies high above all other groups. JAMI is playing off competiton, like a good film at Cannes Festival. JAMI does not need that kind of award to be recognized...
Honestly, don't you love it when people ask "Who did you say? Jamiro-what?". Would you like your favorite restaurant win an award and be roamed by a crowd of tourists? I don't....
I guess JK and his band are aware enough of their own value and do not need that kind of award to proove their success is real.

well, i can agree with you in one way, sunrayvibe

of course jamiroquai doesn't NEED to win an award to know that they do good music. but wouldn't it be a nice, well-owned compliment? don't you like to hear that you did a good job? for a professionel musician it must be a good feeling to get an award, wouldn't it? Wink

but yes, you are right. being a jamiroquai-fan kinda puts you in a special league. it's something extraordinary and i like to be a member of that almost exclusive club Very Happy Razz

Same feeling
OK CosmicBear,
I admit I am torn between those 2 feelings. On the one side I wish that JAMI could be a world famous band, on the other I feel kind of "protectionist" about them, like keeping the club exclusive as you say.
I was most eager to see how JK would react to the fact of failing the award ... once again.
The first reaction I heard was this little interview on the web at a site called "Capital" (advised by David Rowe on Jamline). JK seemed pretty cool about it and also made jokes (as far as I could understand his high-speed english).
The second reaction was a (extremely) short news on MTV on Friday showing JK answering to the MTV female interviewer on Award location.
She asked him something like "What are the rumours like for the Brit awards?" and he is supposed to have answered something like "The rumours are that I have a big...".
My faint hope is that the translation was not correct.....

Anyway, how could K. Minogue and her nerves-wretching "Nanana" win the award for best foreign female? When I see that I really have no regret JAMI did not win.

yeah, i agree with you once again, sunrayvibe,

all these music-awards (no matter which one) are run by the executives of the music-industry. i am sure, they want to give us the impression, that we do have some kind of influence on it, but actually, i do not believe it. it is all a question of money. that's why kyle minouge (right spelling?) wins an award as best female artist and that's why a great band like Jamiroquai is left out again.

well, i can imagine that it bothers jay kay and the rest in some way, after all, they do deserve it. but think about it this way. we still have their music, and they can be sure, that they will have our support no matter if they have awards up to the roof or not. in the end, it's the music that counts! Wink

cosmic greetings

I will still eat the bread crumbs
CosmicBear,

I will have to start thinking of a topic on which you disagree with me, or I am afraid you will get bored hearing from me all the stuffs you already know and agree on!
No I was just kidding.

Even if I despise this Award business.... I will jump to the ceiling out of joy when the postman will deliver the cassette that my UK friend recorded on TV Thursday with the whole show of the Brit awards.

As you see, human nature is complex...

I have heard that Jay responded to his "Brits Brawl" and the Awards at the Glasgow and Manchester concerts in an ironical and sarcastical way. Can someone tell me more about it? What did he say?
