I agree....it's like the DJ says, the more you listen to it, the more it grows and grows on you...
However, I think FJLIS is more of a Jamiroquai-miage kind of thing...I mean, the Impressions of JMQ on the American public is more of a Deeper underground thing, than a Stillness In Time thing, so FJLIS will be better...

why? do we want to hear half the friggin' album before the 1st single is released?

Right man.. I think we´re kind of too anxious about listening to new tracks... I mean... when the album is released we´ll be already bored of it.. so lets learn to be patient

I picked SDISJ for the single because it would be perfect for the start of summer, or maybe they'll release it for the next single. That should be right around the middle of summer, people will be on vacation, meeting their "summer flings" or breaking up with them. It'll be perfect! Regardless, I definately think this song will be a released single. I don't really think it matters what song the US is more likely to play, because they won't play it here. Now, I don't listen to much radio anymore but I can't imagine that FJLIS is on the radio here at all, unless its in California. Jamiroquai is too underground in the states, which is OK with me because if they did get on the radio here, ClearChannel would play them to DEATH just like they do with everything else. (Plus it's a little tiring teaching everyone about "the man in the furry hat in that one video")

Mers,
Jamiroquai's identity is based on 2 songs in the U.S. (which I've stated repetitively in many previous posts on this site): Virtual Insanity and within the past year or year and a half: Canned Heat (VOTE FOR PEDRO!!!!!!)

Anyway, Beena made a great point about the name of the song itself, besides that it is a good song, that it's suitable for a summer release. Hopefully Schooly in the next couple of days will give us some other suitable optinos to choose from.

You know my sister who isnt a "big" jamiroquai fan recently heard FJLIS and she thought that its the best song that jamiroquai has done yet....

I think this song is meant to appeal to the "general" pop-loving public....
FJLIS has grown on me as well.....

do i think its a better song than SDISJ? No way.... but i think FJLIS will appeal to a broader audience.....

I like every song ive heard so far..... and looking forward to hearing more.... Go Jay!!!!!

we can all say i like this i dont like that,but jay long time ago had an idea how his music will develop,he not so long ago that he was inspired alot from jimmy hendrix,so that explains the rocky parts and rob harris solos;
all we can do is let it be and enjoy; Wink

Yeah I agree but you gotta contact your local radio station and ask them to play it......and I don't think California is much different, There is so much competition with new bands.

The new video was crazie cool .....what forum am I in? I haven't even heard SDISJ yet and I can already tell it would probably be a "better" single
just from hearing everyone's chant.......

OK...Here's my perspective.

I think that the first single WAS A GREAT CHOICE! FJLIS has a hard-edge to it, a VERY CATCHY HOOK and RIFF, and the video is both bizarre and fresh at the same time. I think that the overall package of "Dynamite" is raising the bar and will help to both redefine and re-establish them on a GLOBAL level. Very Happy

HOWEVER, I have only heard these three tunes so can't support that song 100%. Also, I would like to add that I do think "7 days in sunny june" is my favorite of the three, but considering the album is called "dynamite" I think that it is too mellow for a first single.

I really hope that this album gains even more fame and critical acclaim on an international level. The US missed the boat on Funk Odyssey (result: no US tour dates), hopefully "dynamite" will blow up (pun intended).

AFO was doomed to failure in the US. It was released on September 11!!!! Jamiroquai was in the country to preform for the Leno show and already did Regis and Kelly in the morning, but they cancelled the rest of their promotional tour because of the events of September 11th. Strange bit of Jamiroquai history I guess.

Yes, that is in fact true. Even Jay was supposed to be in the TWC that morning Rolling Eyes .

'Dynamite' and 'Give Hate A Chance' are better than those 3 tracks. I couldn't help moving my feet when I heard them. Im very sure are choices for future singles, cause if they are, gonna be HITS.

but do we have to choose second single before the first is released and before knowing all songs? i think both things are absurd.
And about the real subject of this tread.
the thing jamiroquai want to do is to catch people, seven days in sunny june is a great song but it's not so far from jamiroquai's style, can be compared with any other "normal" jamiroquai track and this doesn't happens with feels just like it should.
people who already knows jamiroquai will be catched with any first single, but in opposite, people wich is not into jamiroquai yet will not be catched with a same-style tune, so i think it's a good choice the first single they have choosed, it's fresh, the video helps a lot to the song and it grows on everyone who heards it

There are two radios that constantly put Jamiroquai on air -Aspen Classic and Metro-, and you're not gonna believe this, but on Saturday, there were three JMQ songs -Little L remix, Canned Heat, and Feels Just Like It Should- at the same time in different radios!!

Diego, you forgot some radios, Rock & Pop, Kabul and Spika. Smile

Well, Seven Days is a good track, I like it as a second single, perfectly for summer in the north hemisphere. What will be bad is if some of the greatest tracks like Give Hate A Chance, Love Blind or Star Child are not released as singles, just like Main Vein in the AFO era. Sad
