@JamiroFan2000:
This is one of the few times I agree with you.
Nah, just kidding.
But I got to say : I think we should all wait another 3 weeks and not
download the album.
You know what I think ? I find it astonishing that so many people have
downloaded the album and still there is no major discussion about
it going on here.
And that after 4 years of waiting for it.
That´s somehow strange. Why are you all so quiet ?
Could it be that those who have downloaded the album have somehow
spoiled the surprise for themselves ? And deep inside they know it ?
I remember one Christmas when I was a child: Nosy as I used to be
I searched my parents wardrobe for the presents one day before Christmas eve.
And after that I wished I hadn´t done that. Because on Christmas eve
I had to pretend that I was "surprised" and somehow the whole exitement and joy was not there anymore.
Maybe I learned from that experience.
At least the people who haven´t downloaded the album yet have something to look forward to. And the others haven´t.
Hehe .... |

Oh, what a shame, we downloaded the album illegally
Wrong. We downloaded it legally (most of us, with a shareware or freeware program), the one who ripped it did something illegal by sharing copyrighted material.
Oh, we spoiled ourselves the "surprise" of listening to it for the first time after buying it. Big trouble! I was invited to a listening party and had the chance of checking it out more than a month before its release, I loved the album and was desperately waiting for this moment to have the tracks available to listen to them any time I want.
I can't see the coincidence of what you're saying about christmas gifts and a cd release. (traumatic childhood?)
There are no surprises in the release of an album...
Are we doing harm to the artists? I can't speak for you all, but I'm a collector of any material that Jamiroquai launch, so I'll buy it just when it's in stores here.
Edit the poll, one more option please
I have downloaded the album legally, with legal software _________________

The only one with a "traumatic childhood" must be you.
One look at your avatar tells me that your parents must have given
you food instead of love.
That would also explain your groundless hostility towards me.
Give hate a chance, eh ? |

I think downloading the album is like pre-marital sex. Depending on wot you believe in, you're either gonna do your best to do it, or be patient and wait. Everyone knows where the fun is!
Just remember, be safe, and always use an anonymous bittorrent client, even if your friends tell you it's not cool. |

The main fact that people have to realize is that we're still going to buy this album! It's a win-win situation. Noone loses! |

Am I having hostility towards you? Hmm.. you're wrong, you started all this mate, when you told us what to do ¿Should we download it or not? Wow, what a dilemma! _________________

I'll wait for the UK imports to trickle into the US this summer...I hoping that a copy or two will sneak into one of the indie record stores that came up from Brent's link (thanks, btw). _________________ "...I feel that Jamiroquai needs to be taken to another stage now. That's what I had in my mind yesterday, jay88, when I had to decide whether I could resist or not. The comparisson fits in some points - not in all, but still...
I can understand both views. The ones that are very excited about the new stuff and just can't wait to hear it - no matter if it is an mp3 or the real cd. They are just so curious to discover someting new.
But I can absolutely understand the other ones who want to wait until the official release and celebrate this special first moment.
Both is completely understandable and I really was in a conflict myself when it came to the point that I had to decide: wait or just do it!
Of course most of us "hard-core-fans" will buy the album and singles anyways. No question about it. But you should consider that not everyone who is reading in forums is such a true fan and supports Jamiroquai.
As long as the sharing stays silently between real fans who are supporting the band, it's not a problem and won't hurt anyone.
But we shouldn't encourage people to spread the album to the whole world. When it is available for everyone easily then it hurts the band.
So that's one of the reasons why I don't support piracy here at jamirotalk.
Instead of playing "Robin Hood" and make possible illegal downloads of the album for EVERYONE in the internet, we should think about another project that would help "not so wealthy" fans and support the band at the same time:
Collect money and buy a bunch of dynamite albums and send them to real fans that can't afford to buy one by themselves. What about that?

P.S.: If you are wondering for what I decided:
Well, my first son was born in November 1999 - my marriage has been in October 2000 _________________ ~ I look up to Heaven, every star I see is mine.

ok you don't support pyracy but do you know what they give you when you BUY the cd on the net? official download, they don't send you a physical cd to your pc. so what do you get? MP3! _________________
