Black Devil Car could easily be a Beatles song!!!!
Hi guys,
i want to tell you one thing which is obvious for me about
fantastic song which was so cryptic for us for so long and which we discussed here a lot - its called BLACK DEVIL CAR !
as a beatles fan i know everything about the Beatles
and i really think Black Devil Car could be a song
from Beatles@1965 "Rubber Soul" era!!!
a lot of bands tried to sound like Beatles, but for the first time
i hear something that causes a feeling similar to the one
when i hear mid 60s Beatles tracks.
though here we have modern sound, writing style is so close to Paul McCartney! and also it reminds 60s Rolling Stones tracks!!!!
about beat: Derrick's beat in chorus with cowbell reminds Ringo and gives it a vibe very close to one song which i think you guessed.. it also has a word "car" in its name! yes its "Drive My Car"!! mostly i mean vibe of the rhythm not melody.
while melody and arrangement of slow part reminds me "White Album" and "Magical Mystery Tour" - here its more in John Lennon style.
i guess it was mainly written by Rob.
so Rob if you read this , thank you very much for this song!!!
of course its not in JAMIROQUAI style, but
i think the band showed that when they want to play rock they can play rock better than all rock bands put together... am i right?

Well Happy Dude, you can't deny the Beatles made some hilarious tunes. Check out the White Album for example. And by the way, I love the middle part of Black Devil Car. It is so funny! Jay just makes a joke about his own passion for cars, with this silly lullaby-ish part. |

Relax Happy Dude, it's only music, not the end of the world. Maybe you should have develloped a sense of humour in the past 4 years. It would do you a lot of good.
Sorry, I got carried away. Anyway, if you don't like the tune or the album, skip it. No one is forcing you to listen to it. And don't offend so many people, simply because you're disappointed with album. |

Having grown up musically with the beatles, cause my ten years older brother was a big fan and only had beatles tapes and albums (musical indoctrination ), I think I can imagine the resemblence of the song to some beatles tunes like High Times said. Although this would have not come first into my mind hearing the song. May be I should check back some beatles stuff
And by the way: Baby you can drive my car, yes I'm gonna be a star.... _________________

My dad is a big fan of the Beatles, and the first time he heard Black Devil Car (today hehee) he said: It sounds like the Beatles... _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

Hello Jamirotalkers,
I don't know if it sounds like the Beatles , but I sure know I like this track so much. After listening to it for the 3rd time, I believe it fits ok with the rest of the album. And the lyrics are very fun.

I don't know how many of you have heard of the famous aussie rock band "Jet" but it is VERY similar to their sound, especially in the guitar riffs. |
