Stuart and Mel split up after 7 years of marriage
http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/3amcontent

I wonder if Stuart now regrets his decision to leave the band.
Didn´t he always say that his reason for leaving was that he wanted to
spend more time with his wife and his child ?
And now he has nothing: No career, no wife and no child...

First off, how do you know it's even true? You believe averything you read in the papers do you?

Second, research before you post! Stuart has a band called LEROI - they are about to sign a major deal with Geffen!

Thridly, technically they were never married.. just a couple!

Forth, how does this in some way mean he has no child? They all still live together in London! Confused

I call it the 3 R's - research, research, research.

Stuart's crashing at Leonardo DiCaprio's LA mansion after the actor bankrolled the demo for his new band Leroy, who are on the verge of signing with Geffen Records.

you made my day.

@ merrsaj:

I know you are very important and so on, because you know
Stuart Zender personally. You are da man, are you.
But don´t make yourself ridiculous !
" Research, research, research ". Hahaha !
Why should I be arsed to " research" something the Mirror has written.
I simply don´t give a damn if it is true or not. I´m just quoting a popular
newspaper.
Like we all do in this forum ( Just in case you haven´t noticed yet )
All the news concerning Jamiroquai we are posting here are just rumours.
What else should we do in your opinion ! Fly over to the UK and ask them personally ?
G.I.T. !
Hahaha !
If we wouldn´t post rumours here that are spread by CONTACTMUSIC.COM , the Sun and their likes , Jamirotalk.net would be
an empty place...
So don´t try to pick on me just because I dared to quote a newspaper
story referring to your personal darling.
It´s just an interesting story, nothing more nothing less.

I don't normally retaliate to people who are so rude, but here goes...

It's got nothing to do with knowing somebody personally or not, and it's fair enough to post rumours/gossip etc, im not disputing that, not even questioning it - my point was that you said, and I quote:

Quote:
And now he has nothing: No career, no wife and no child...

You obviously didnt read the article very well because it even states that SZ has a new band about to sign with Geffen. I simply explained that he was never married so didnt loose a wife, and he couldn't possibly have lost a child just because of his split with Mel.

Tell me if Im wrong, but where did you 'quote' the newspaper article? Nothing you said quoted the article at all - thats why I told you to atleast research something before you start running your mouth about it.

Get your facts straight and start actually quoting something before you start saying you quoted something.

Thats it... nothing more, nothing less. Wink

@merrsaj:

Listen Smartass.
Ever heard about the stylistic means of exaggeration ?

Who cares if she is his "wife" or just his "longterm girlfriend".
Not me.
Why are you so obsessed with the politically correct words.
" He was never married so he couldn´t lose a wife. "
Harharhar !
A bit picky, are we.
I´d really like to see you writing in a foreign language.
I don´t think you are able to express yourself in any other language than English.

Of course when I say " no child " I don´t mean his daughter
has suddenly disappeared or something.
But I could imagine he simply doesn´t see her as often as he used to
see her, now that ( according to the newspaper article ) he spends
so much time in the U . S.
Is that so hard to understand ?
I´m afraid there will always be people like you who misunderstand on purpose for it suits their agenda to do so .

And sorry , but to be " about to sign with Geffen " isn´t exactly what I would call a "career". Especially not if before that I used to be part of a band like Jamiroquai.

Harharharhar....!!!!!!

Tsk tsk tsk Cosmic_kris... don't YOU look like a silly little man.

I am sure Stuart wouldn't regret leaving a band who have released three little piles of poo (Stinkronized, AFO, Dynamite) since his departure... and neither would Toby, Simon Katz, etc etc — the list goes on and on.

If you weren't such a moron you would realise that signing a contract with GEFFEN (heard of NIRVANA???) is, well.... kind of a big deal. Stu's going to have a better chance of success in the US than Jay ever will (something we know JK has aspired to since Virtual Insanity).

You would also realise that you don't really know as much as you think you do. As you say, "And now he has nothing: No career, no wife and no child...".... this is a pretty ill-informed comment.

As for his reasons for leaving Jamiroquai? Sure, he wanted to spend more time with family. But could you be THAT naive to think that's the only reason he left? I'd jump off a sinking ship too, especially if i had a coke-head like Jay at the helm.

Finally, slagging off a good guy like Merrsaj has really done you no credit; he was just trying to encourage you to open your mind to other possibilites before you accept tabloid trash as gospel. Calling him a "smartass" is just way out of line! Maybe you need to grow up a little — this forum is for people over the age of 13 remember...

As for the other people who have posted in this topic; I am glad we're all behind a talented and dignified musician/singer/songwriter/producer like Mr. Zender!! I'll be wishing him every bit of success with Leroi!!!

Peace

I really admire Zender's bassplaying talent as well as most band members which left Jamiroquai but it's kinda awkward that Zender, Toby, Katz seem to receive much more praise and many ppl here say that they are talented ones opposed to Jay who only had sucess thanks to them...

Maybe I was asleep for some years but what they those guys accomplish after they left Jamiroquai?
Not much, I'm sorry to say but it's gettin' pretty clear that Jay is the driving force behind the real gems. Even though we may not like his personality or attittude you take Jay out of the band and u get a bunch of great musicians that lack the genious of a man that comes up with the melodies most of the times, and specially with the soul...

Peace

Hey Melo D i totally hear what you are saying.

I agree with you in ways, however we have to also be aware that Mr Zender, although he WASN'T credited, was a big part of the songwriting. As for Toby Smith, well it goes without saying too — that guy is as responsible for writing tunes as Jay...

But if we want to talk about Jay being a genius and coming up with melodies, then let's look at the beginning: When You Gonna Learn.

This was the tune that got the guy a record deal. Is it a good tune? Absolutely. But is it a product of JK's genius? Debatable.

I suggest you listen to a track called "Los Conquistadores Chocolates" by Johnny Hammond. This tune existed long before Jamiroquai.

If you listen to this tune you'll notice its main section forms the basis for WYGL's chorus! This is no coincidence — Jay is a big fan of Johnny Hammond (see the Jamiroquai: Late Night Tales disc... there's a couple of tracks on there...).

I guess it's something to think about — maybe he got his big break by ripping off someone else???

Cheers

Hey everyone, I'm brand new to this site, but I'm a regular poster at Mr. Merrick's forum at www.stuartzender.co.uk.

I can respect that, but I know that a few of the band members have gone on to do other things. Stuart has worked with various artists, and will no doubt have more session work lined up in the future. Toby Smith has worked with Will Young (I think he still is), Simon Katz I know has done a few sessions with various people too, and so on and so forth. Anyway, from what I see of the whole thing it seems like Jay gets most credit. I know a lot of people refer to Jamiroquai as 'Jay Kay', as if he's the only band member. If anything I think the other band members don't get enough recognition. But that's just my opinion.

As for the whole 'split' thing, it could go either way: either it's been blown out of proportion, or it's true (I mean, it's the Mirror after all). Whichever one it is, I wish Stuart the best of luck for the future.

As for Cosmic_kris, I'd agree you should probably 'shut your whining ass up'... Rolling Eyes Laughing

Cheers

Liam Very Happy

You wish!

Jay Kay will always be the Meister while Stuart Zender is just another musician...
