Q Magazine "Dynamite" Review Text...
Hello,
I was at my local Tower Records today looking for the FJLIS Import single when I glanced at the new issue of Q Magazine, and remembered that their review of Dynamite was in it . So I read and wrote down the Q Review of Dynamite while I browsed some CDs. Till a fellow fan can scan this great review and put it online, here's the text of the review (Though I will note in a funny sight that they posted the cover of the FJLIS single as the Dynamite album cover....hehe!) :
Bullseye!
Finally, he's hitting more than paparazzi
Jamiroquai - Dynamite
Rating: 4 stars - Q Recommended Album
Falling out of nightclubs, being headbutted by paparazzi, kicking a coke habit: the four years since Jamiroquai's last album, A Funk Odyssey, haven't been without their difficulties for elastic-limbed Jay Kay. While feeling sorry for the Ferrari driving 35-year old would tax the most compassionate of souls, even the tabloids mused that his urge to self-destruct, though entertaining, wasn' healthy. In truth, behaving like a young royal was the least of Kay's problems.
A week before the infamous headbutting, his long-standing co-writer, keyboardist Toby Smith, quit the band. As the earlier departure of bassist Stuart Zender demonstrated (1999's Synkronized was rewritten to remove all traces of him), Kay takes such disruption personally. For the sake of sixth album Dynamite, it's good thing that he does.
From the guttural grind of first single Feels Just Like It Should to Starchild's banner waving strut, it's clear that he's refocused and out to prove he's better off on his own. Seven Days' Riviera sway may offer carefree summer sun, but everything else is taut, and wired with determination.
Which means the similarities to 1996's Travelling Without Moving, Jamiroquai's most successful album, probably aren't coincidental. Geared more for the car than the dancefloor, the list of potential singles is long, with driving funk predominating and every sci-fi disco moment, including the pointed Give Hate A Chance, cruising with Cosmic Girl sensibility. While heavier guitars and a harder digital edge update the sound, he's consolidating his trademarks and ramming them home for the chorus.
Add a sideswipe at George W Bush in the shape of the bitter ballad The World That He Wants, and Dynamite suggests that while no longer brawling in the streets, Kay still has plenty of fight in him.
- Dan Genhoe
RIP IT!: Starchild
There you go, great review innit? I hope this is the beginning of more and more positive critical review of Dynamite. Thanks for listening, enjoy the review and Peace!
Sincerely,

The review is quite short, so I can understand if Jamirofan does not buy the magazine only because of that review. And normally you can not scan or copy in the shops where they sell magazines _________________

Hello again,
Yes, I couldn't scan the review cause I didn't have access at the time to a scanner, plus, I couldn't spare the $12 for that issue of Q Magazine (Yes, import Magazine prices have gone up!). So I thought writing down the review would be best till someone could be nice enough to scan the review. I was only able to copy it down since my friend is assistant manager at the Tower Records I frequent. Still, thanks for the feedback, glad some appreciate my efforts. Thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,

By the way...Jay does not look very "fresh" on that pic, which I think is taken at his private bar...
Anyway I like these pics more than the high polished, maked up magazine pics, giving him a look may be 10 years younger, but are not natural. _________________

Thank you JF2K and thank you Monisum.
A joint jamily effort to inform and enrich the rest of us.
I have two scanners that are busted and a pile of cables.
I think the time and effort that JF2K puts in here and other places is incredible, it's all for the love of Jamiroquai.
. . . and when I am harping on at my children when they are doing an art project, I tell them, it's about recycling and maximizing with the materialsethat you have available - that's the smart part - and keeps creativity alive.
And if you ask me, anyone packaged up and sold right can look a million bucks. I am going to rabbit on about the film Snatch again - take a sneak at how awful Brad Pitt was presented in the character of Mikey One Punch (until he took his shirt and vest off). So of course "Sir" JK has his photogenic moments (good and bad) like the best of us !!!
Can anyone tell me, when is "Sir" JK going to get a decent hair cut ???
I am beginning to ask myself does he have Dumbo ears ??? And why is he perpetuating that 'dragged through a bush backwards' look ???
:-))))) h |

I'm growing my hair to like like Jay in the 'King For A Day' video, his best hair moment as far as I'm concerned
I wish he would have it long or short...not kinda inbetween, but I guess it's just his style _________________
