Ghost lyrics!
Hello Jamirotalkers,

I remember the ghost lyrics post in here about the previous albums. Well, I wanted to write down some things I thought:

-Lyrics in Electric Mistress say 'You're not free to say', he really sings that?

-FJLIS, alright he sings 'Black moon steets', there's no way he says 'City Streets'!

-In SDISJ there are extra lyrics (maybe they are from the extended version?).

-Black Devil Car missed the line 'She had the greenest eyes'.

-In GHAC says in one line 'Until more people have to cry'. And then 'Can you feel the DREAMS of life' and 'Can you feel the VEINS of life'. I think he sings the same in both parts. Maybe I'm wrong.

-In Talullah there are a lot of things Jay sings that are not listed in there. 'You're my magic star, don't you go too far', 'Shut my eyes I still see your face', etc etc.

-In 'Love Blind', is 'Hanging OFF the streetlights' or 'Hanging FROM the streetlights'. The two lines are in the lyrics -> Question

-In HTB, 'All I want is to see my black eyes turn back to brown'... that's what is says right? In the booklet you read 'All I want to see is my...'.

-To 'Jamirqoquai' fans worldwide?? Rolling Eyes

Who wrote the booklet??!

D! (dyego)

PS: Funny thing, when I heard the song for the first time without reading the lyrics in Starchild I thought he sang 'Santa wants to save the land' LOL.

Before the release of the album, Seven Days In Sunny June could be heard on a certain radio station in UK, it had the lyrics that are in the booklet. Apparently by the time the album was released they decided to use a different ending of the song, but the booklet was not changed

Yes that's true. In fact, I think that the sampler version I've heard is the one with the correct lyrics from the booklet. The sampler has different length from the album one:

Dynamite (5.32)
Seven Days In Sunny June (4.47)

And I think they did the right thing, 'cos one more minute with 'Dynamite, dynamite' would have destroyed the entire song. They should've done that with 'Feel So Good', it gets annoying towards the 100 hundredth 'feels so good'.

Anyway, let's get the sampler with those extended versions!! Cool

That bit at the beginning of dynamite... it sounds like a sample from Cerrone's "Love in C Minor"

"Is it on?"
"Uh-huh..." <laughs>
"Did you all see that look? All pretty car... ain't got [something]"

Hehe i had my ear real close to the speaker to hear that 2listen

Sorry if I'm not allowed to reply to such an old topic like this, but I couldn't find anything in the rules about bumping to contribute some information to the discussion, I only found that bumping a replyless topic in order to get it seen and to the top is not allowed.

Soul Education:

If you turn up the volume during the fadeout, you can clearly hear 'Let it come and clean your soul, just come on, just come on...'

Light Years:

In the fadeout, once again, you can clearly hear 'Light years away from who I am, light years away from where I wanna be...'

Destitute Illusions:

There are lyrics both in the ending and in the beginning.

Beginning: You may think you're in heaven...

Ending: Destitute illusions, right before your eyes...

Funktion:

Many previously sung lyrics repeat themselves VERY quietly... Some of them are 'I'll meet you at the funky-junktion', 'Let's get down over there (Or something...)' and 'She's a sight - my honey... (Or something...)'.

Dynamite:

You can hear female voices in the background. I think that they are actually 'playing' the song in their car, and are singing to it.

Hooked Up:

I don't really know if the turntables make that sound or something, but I can clearly hear something like 'Party people, party people...' in the background.

Blow Your Mind (Not lyrics, but still funny...):

In the beginning of part 1, there's an odd UFO-esque sound effect on the left, if you listen to the song using stereo headphones. It seems like the 'UFO' takes off, makes a spiral pattern while doing that, and then falls back on the ground.

Didjital Vibrations:

A modified voice clip of Jay saying 'Sun, ohhhhh, sun, as we're lying...' repeats in the background.
----

That's all I've noticed. Sorry if someting has already been mentioned...

The lyrics in the booklets sometimes don't match those actually sung at all. Particularly the first two albums (and Synkronized, obviously...). Hence the new lyrics section on Funkin - which will be added to just as soon as I've finished my uni exams (one month to go!)

And detrax, TWW is a bonus track on the UK release only.

hmm... interesting stuff here!
I do realize what Sam says though, sometimes the lyrics get different only because the singer gets excited when singing it.. and then he/she feels it sounds better. So there you go... Wink

Hmmm... I'm not sure it's only for that reason. Have you tried matching up the lyrics for Just Another Story with those in the ROTSC inlay? I wouldn't put all those missing words down to Jay getting overexcited when recording it. Just really, really half-arsed transcribing from whoever was putting the booklet together.

of course you're alowed to reply at any topic, and even better if it's an interesting topic like this one an if you add such this interesting stuff
in light years fade out jay says:
"you understand? light years away from who i am..."
in dynamite, you can hear the girls singing in the back in the WHOLE song, they sing extra lines, chorus, laughs, new melodies etc, it is just great
the party party people you mention is a sample from the song "let the rythm hit 'em by eric b and rakim, i stil don't know about the previous sample on the first part of the song where you can hear "fight fight fighting"
the didgital vibrations thing is a bit that always amazed me, i always hear some kind of keyboard speaking but never understood what it says, i'm gonna listen with the lyrics you propose Wink
