Could anyone record a gig at MTV America?
Hi!
The American MTV (so not MTV Europe) is going to broadcast on Friday an Alicia Keys' unplugged gig (the album from it will be released next week), and I'm looking for someone who could record it (the best would be a digital record, but a simple VHS record would also do). So could anyone help me (it would be important)?
Thx! |

just a small hint. a us vhs tape will not play on a european vhs player unless it is ntsc/pal compatible. and even then your tv has to be able to play the ntsc signal or you will only get a black and white picture _________________ Dear Auntie Em. Hate you, hate Kansas, took the dog. Dorothy. x |

Big thx for your help Jammineapolis! A friend of mine called my attention to this gig, he asked me to record it, but MTV America is quite rare in Hungary. He also told me it would be released on dvd, but if I had the chance of getting it earlier, I need to grab it
I've been thinking about this ntsc/pal problem, but I'll try to solve it, if I had the casette in my hand! Keep the touch! |

same problem with the DVD actually or actually even worth.
US DVDs normally have the area code 1, while european and japanese DVDs have code 2. so unless you're using a computer where you can crack the firmware to make it codefree or have a codefree DVD player all you will get it 'This DVD has the wrong area code for this player'
NTSC/PAL shouldn't be a problem with a new dvd-player as most of them are capable of playing both systems. but it will still leave you with the black/white picture problem unless the player converts the signal to PAL or your TV is 60 Hz-capable _________________ Dear Auntie Em. Has MTV Europe been showing her song "Unbreakable" from the Unplugged Special? It's really good. Here's the link if you wanna listen to it (not a download)
http://www.mtv.com/bands/az/keys_alicia/999392/album.jhtml
You just gotta scroll down the page a little, and you can click on the song, and WMP will launch and play the song for you.
Otherwise the video is in wide-release on MTV... when they still play videos lol. _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life?

I apologize, but I didn't get the recording. I set the tape to record, but it just recorded a bunch of "Pimp My Ride" Epsiodes. It was last night when it recorded, but I must have accidentally scheduled the recording for the wrong times. Im disappointed too. Sorry once again, but Im 99.9% sure that this will eventually come out on DVD, and probably before Christmas. Peace! _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

It's supposed to come on again at 6:00 central time tommorow (Sun night). I will try to record it then. I almost wonder if they replayed it on MTV2 in stead of the MTV, because Im pretty sure I scheduled it for the right time. I will try to figure it out here shortly... _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |
