Salzburg, October 2nd (EDITED: Photos are now online)
Hi all,
just a few info about the gig in Salzburg (Austria) that I joined last Sunday...
Location: Salzburgarena, I guess more or less sold out (?), at least it was quite crowded!
My location: first row on the very left, where else
Weather: Ugly, rainy, cold and tiring! (typical for Salzburg.... )
Setlist:
20:00 Begin
- Dj-House-Soul-Funk Tunes
- Lalo Shifrin (Remix)
20:30 Jamiroquai enter the stage
- Canned Heat
- Space Cowboy
- Cosmic Girl
- Revolution 93
- Little L
- Seven Days in Sunny June
- Dynamite
- Light Years
- Use the Force
- Black Capricorn Day
- Love Foolosophy + a Snippet of Main Vain as intro for:
- Time won't Wait
- Alright
Encore:
- Deeper Underground
(with the absolute fattest and most mindblowing bass I have ever experienced in my whole life, I even felt some wind in my face)
22:30 End
Some comments...
The Pre-Show-DJ-Mix before the concert delivered some of the most funky tunes I've ever heard! I'm already desperate because I have no clue from who they were! Maybe some other Jamirotalkers can find it out somehow???
The band did a fabolous job for this concert, but I missed Jay's usual talks in between a bit...
Jay's voice really sounds great (again)! There was a especially wonderful version of Dynamite, and also Revolution, Black Capricorn Day and Use the Force really rocked! Generally, all songs were presented in really great versions! However, I got the impression that something didn't work properly with the stage monitor-speakers which must be quite annoying for the band!?!
In the beginning Jay also did some comments about how they just arrived with the bus from the last gig and that there was no time for visiting the beautiful city itself. After Light Years he mentioned that its video was filmed in Austria (St.Anton) and he used to fall down a lot with the snowboard then!
Almost at the end of the show Jay allowed a boy that wore a Jay-like hat to join the stage, which was quite nice.
I'm already looking again foward for the next concerts I'm going to join!
Nice greetings to all from Austria,
Arnold
PS1: Any comments from any other people that have been there??
PS2: I hope I'll be able to put some pics online in the next days!
PS3: And do not forget to tell me the name of the Pre-Show DJ-Mix ...

Nice review! I think part of the mix at the start are songs by The Crystal Method.... 99% sure I heard their song "Keep Hope Alive" at one point before the Jamiroquai show I went to. |

Here I am!!!!
Hed Kandi's dj set. I noticed some tracks of those compilations before the Bologna show, I love them so much, cool dance stuff!
Check out:

especially the Disco Heaven series! It's a hard to define house style, not very technical but some tracks are very "acid-jazz"-ish.
...and thanks for the minblowing review! _________________ I once had a 10 years of Travelling Without Moving celebrations banner here... |

hi people!
i have also been in salzburg...i agree and i disagree but ......first of all i want to say that i really ENJOYED the concert, how could i not ,if this band i so admire is in your country and you hear them live...
i saw them the first time at the nuke festival in pielachtal in niederösterreich this july...comparing it to this performance salzburg was a bit tired....although the rain there it was the biggest party for me ever...anybody else was there?
arnold ,i was standing nearly at the back in the middle..the sound is best there...in my opinion there were not that many people...i had more than 2 metres space in front and beside me...i had enough place to dance without hurting anybody..heheh ...
the sound was not as good as on the nuke, it seemed that they had some problems ..some times u had to imagine the harmony of the song..if u haven´t known them...especially at the beginning basses and were too loud and jay´s voice and in general not loud enough..
the setlist was the shortest ever...matt wrote in the tour diary that they were rather tired..yes i also had this feeling...don´t misunderstand me..they did really really well and matts solo in light years, wow and rob harris and derrick and sola...jay´s voice was ok, but not as good as at the nuke..especially the higher parts, naja...
the light show was very cool, i liked the watches during time won´t wait and the universe while cosmic girl...i absolutely love this song...
and this short piece of main vein...it confused me a bit until i realised, ahhh time won´t wait...
u know ö3 this radio sender promoted the concert so i wrote a mail to them to ask them if their photographers have any pictures...they answered immediately and told me that they have no pictures...couldn´t believe..they were giving fire lighters(feuerzeuge?) to us but didn´t shoot any photos...
ok..ANYONE has ANY photos???would u please share them i am looking for some everywhere...i really loved this evening
something u can laugh about...i have never been in salzburg arena before and i really didn´t know if it is outdoor or indoor...i was afraid it would be the same as at the nuke-festival..i got wet to the bones ...so i wore two jackets and the rain jacket in my hand...also second clothing if i needed it...my friend even wore long underwear and a haube? on the head...when we saw people in t-shirts we went back to car to get rid of our hot clothes...hahah it was not outdoor and i really started sweating inside...ok, that was not so interesting...sorry
has nothing to do with salzburg, but i won a official t-shirt! the black one with the colourful "DYNAMITE "and the green "JAMIROQUAI" on the back...it was a game by sony ericson..i was so happy i had never luck with such things...
ok i think thats enough...
hope they will come to austria again...i am addicted to their music!
and if anyone has any photos....please!
nice to meet you and thanks for reading, know i got rather long...

lucky girl sandriche
just wanted to tell you .. the concert in düsseldorf had been presented by eins live radiostation.. and after sending an email to them..why there arn´t any pics (on their website) or any review... about the concert... they answered me: oh well, but we had two little reports about it: first at midday..(i was on the way to düsseldorf) and at the next early morning..(i was on the way home).. great and my friend sent them an eamil too! and the answer that was given to her was completely different!! they told her, that there had been a misunderstanding between a reporter (of the radiostation) and the editor ..can´t believ it.. _________________

that would also make me angry...i mean if it makes u angry it makes me also angry, we are jamily....u know!
isn´t it the job of a radio station to make good reports with photos and the other stuff??? |
