Hello,
Well, I will tell you Mr. Az, I grew up in many of my acne-ladden teenage of the early nineties with Green Day, but I really don't like their direction since their last good album "Insomiac" from 1996 . I mean, I saw them on the VMAs (Why MTV STILL gives away Video awards when they DON'T SHOW MUSIC VIDEOs continues to baffle me!), and I was a little shocked, they were in monkey suits, with wacked out hairtotally oblivious to "how a punk band should NOT look"! I still caress the old Green Day efforts (Kerplunk!, Dookie), but "American Idiot" was a flawed attempt at doing a "political album" via a major "Quandrophenia" influence (See The Who for more info!). I mean there were some telltale signs the Green Day I respected was in TROUBLE, and here they are:
GREEN DAY WARNING SIGNS:
- Where did the "Rhythm Guitarist" come from?
- When did Green Day start wearing suits like the Clash?
- Where is the fabled "Pavement" green guitar that Billy Joe played?
- When the hell did MTV give a damn about punk music?
- What is with the heavy amount of eye liner that Billy Joe is wearing?
Sorry to sound a little harsh there, but I am a very passionate music fan, and I hate to see this "Green Day 2.0" everywhere I traverse near Punk music. But I guess this is there way of "staying fresh" and inciting a whole new generation of kids to inhale glue into ANOTHER orifice.... ! Thanks for listening to my diatribe and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

Green Day is not punk, it's a commercial pop punk band, like Blink 182, Simple Plan, etc... It's made for the younger audiences. Punk band are Dead Kennedys, Sex Pistols, something like that _________________ Santiago, October '97
