Let's get serious: Dynamite's Doom
Hello Jamirotalkers,

I was looking for some country that still has 'Dynamite' among their album charts...but nothing...

Let's get serious for a second... are they finished?? I mean, it is a good album, better than 'A Funk Odyssey' -many of you may agree-... so why it didn't have the success it was meant to be?

Is this the end of Jamiroquai? (Haha how dramatic! Laughing )
The single we thought was the weakest (FJLIS) now is the most succesful... the one that had more chances (SDISJ)... it disappeared quickly... the album is at number 70 (70!), ok.. it's been 5 months since the release, but look the weekly chart of A Funk Odyssey:

1, 1, 2, 5, 14, 16, 22, 21, 25, 37, 47, 38, 33, 30, 29, 30, 31, 43, 42, 38, 31, 30, 34, 29, 11, 11, 9, 5, 5, 8, 11, 13, 12, 12, 22, 27, 36, 42, 54, 63, 51, 44, 53, 53, 47, 40, 48, 60, 66, 74, 75

After going up to 47.. came back to number 5! for two weeks!

Now I'm hoping a Greatest Hits album for the next release (not with that name.. maybe 'The Singles: 93-05'...), cause I can't see another hit with their new 7th studio album.. unless they start doing something different.

What do you think?

i never care about the sales and charts......
people is fool, they only buy what they see again and again on tv or radio, their worst album, a funk odyssey was a big succes here and everywhere, everybody knows the song little l wich is one of the worst in the album, but it had a big big promotion, i think it's only that.....
as long as they keep doing good albums and good concerts i don't care about nothing more. and it's sure jamiroquai will not dissapear for selling few copies..

[quote="jamirokaki"]i never care about the sales and charts[quote]

I agree on what you say, but keep in mind that in the world today, to keep moving... you must have success... they don't care if the record is good, they want to sell... otherwise you can't explain the huge amount of crap music going around.

What I'm saying is... what should they do to have success again? A good album just proved it can't.... what's next?

I don't know. I don't care about charts, but as you said Diego, you must sell to succed...
the album is very good, definitly better than AFO, but people buy crap, and more crap...

When Dynamite was released here it was 1st in the charts in the first week I thougt 'wow, it's going to be a huge hit', but then it dropped quikly... Crying or Very sad

I don't know what's next, but if they release a G. Hits, the next 'new' album will be released in 2009!

God save JMQ Laughing

I think succes is the key moment(like @TWM@)/for exemple ROTSC don't know almost nobody, but it the super-smashing album(EOPE too)!May be
The main reason in changes of sound to hard guitar music///experiments with electronic genre on Dynamite,i think is naturally what this music don't popular in the radio, because Crazy Frog-is the majesty of music now:lol: Laughing But it like an Waves or dark stripe, the time will changed ///& JMQ will be number one!but actually it never mind/because it's band will be always great&WONDERful Wink i'm still belive in that! Wink

like billie joe says...I DONT CAREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
well, if u read the title of this post is sure what i think, I DONT CARE the charts and anothers things like that, when i buy my album i enjoy all the music and i think is really really more better than a funk oddisey
what i can say?
we know this album is great
is one of the best albums i have in my personal collection
i dont think is the end NEVER, NEVER.
i think only one thing, if we enjoy the album is time to call all the friends and girlfriends and lovers and partners and put the new album...
believe me when i say this is not the end, im sure looks like the real punk bandas, in the end are only REAL fans-i like the punk music too-and i think always is better if in the end all here-or somewhere the fans of this music still waiting for more-know what we have in the hands
i love dynamite, i love jamiroquai
i dont think is the end
for me is a beggining...like in the punk i discover in the last 3 years...maybe less people is real fan, but i dont care, i think is better know we are fans proud of be fans and maybe with the next single''black devil car'' the band have more success...
well
bye bye
have fun
and keep on the funk alive

buffaloman_R Hello, buffaloman_R

Sad I certainly don't think Dynamite is finished in anyway, just in limbo like all Jamiroquai albums have been since "Synkronized" Sad. But it really depends on the perception on WHERE in could be evidently OR already is finished. Most American fans like me are hoping for a "second coming" of modest US music fan interest into Dynamite when Jamiroquai returns for a Spring 2006 US tour, maybe some more US TV Appearances and such (Let's be honest, if Jami wanted more attention, they would have been booked on "Letterman" & "Conan" while they were in NYC!). But Dynamite still continues to be a AMAZING success in Europe and Asia, where new music is ALWAYS embraced and loved, and not like the American market practice, pimped out to advert for new cars and shite like that (I just bet you if Sony/BMG had paid for FJLIS to be added to the latest Apple IPod commerical, they would be more interest in Jami by the stagnant US mainstream). So, in a mild "to be continued till March 2006" conclusion, "Dynamite" has caused lots of great reactions, worldwide, so it's only a matter of time they get more due. Thanks for listening and Peace!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

P.S. Wink As greatly noted by Jamirokaki, Sales don't really mean anything, they are just a little "title" they slap onto a artist's name to bring up a history of that successful artist Wink. Smile Hehe, I bet you JK still uses his Grammy as a chew toy for his doggies Smile!

I actually think AFO is a better album, but that's just my opinion. It isn't the traditional heavy funk Jamiroquai sound, but that kinda ended on Space Cowboy anyway. The songs are instantly catchy on AFO though - it took me a long time to enjoy the songs on Dynamite. I used to think the album was a total flop and disgrace to the name of Jamiroquai..and it still is sort of. However, tracks like Time Won't Wait and Seven Days save it from total crap-dom.

As for a 7th album, Jay better have something amazing planned..how about an album of unreleased tracks? Of course this would be pretty difficult as far as royalties with ex-band members are concerned. Or maybe he should go back to his roots of slick synthesizers, horns, and amazing bass-lines, not this Pro-Tooled super clean sounding studio magic we've had since TWM.

And one more thing, nix the back up singers, I want to hear Jay and the band, not a gospel choir.

I think that "Dynamite" is so much better than "A Funk Odyssey", but definitely not better than "Synkronized". For us, charts means nothing, that's right, but for the band, the charts means a lot, why? simply cos with the charts they know how much are they being sold and heard... there are another two factors that are: Piracy, and all the crap music in the system... people loves to buy crap and more crap... that's just a shame...

An Unreleased tracks album will be nice, but the bands are not used to release those kind of albums when they're still active, and remember Jay Kay don't want to make the old sound, and unreleased tracks will show a lot of it... Going back to their roots? sounds extremely nice for me, but i really don't know what is Jays problem with that, you can make a new sound being Jazzy and Funky, and being a natural instrument musician... but i know there's a Commercial side, and he won't do that...

And about the backing singers... Rolling Eyes they suck... even the fat lady is the most church singing one... DJ Dzire was ten million times better Razz

i really don't know, but Jay must think very well about this...

that was rude as hell. i hope you are perfect looking, really perfect. i mean - not a flaw to you. labels are for packages, not people.

and jay has always had back up singers. did you ever hear the revolution 1993 demo?

let's not forget where the roots of jamiroquai come from...

think on that.

it's all good. have a nice day.
