Jay Kay to hang up hat?
Quote:
The Sun newspaper (UK) has a report today (Friday) saying that Jay is ready to retire. The article says that he "wants to quit music for good — to live the quiet life at home with his beloved dogs."

"There are other things I want to do with my life after spending 15 years doing this."

"I like what I do and I have made myself a good living. But I just don't like the c**p that goes with it."

"I want peace and quiet and to meet a nice girl and have some little pitter-patterers (children) and chill out."

I WANNA DIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

he might want to quit, but doesn't he always say things like that? he has a contract with sony and can't get out of it that easily. maybe he just needs a break from the tour?

and it is THE SUN which printed this article, so i'd be careful about it.

2hug <-- especially for FRA. my first thought when i read it was actually 'FRA is going to freak' HEHE

(I'll move this topic to the news-section. I'm sure more people wanna talk abit this soon)

It's The Sun so it's bollocks innit? I wouldn't worry too much about this. It's probably just their version of what Jay said in this article: http://www.smh.com.au/news/music/mad-hatter/2005/11/24/1132703291988.html

He's tired of Sony that is evident. I don't think what The Sun says is true. He's gonna get out of the Sony contract and crank out funky tunes elsewhere. That's what I think anyway.

It's also a chance that Jay is fed up with The Sun and their tabloid crap as well. Perhaps he actually told them this just to f*ck with them. Kinda like a "they print lies so I'll deliver them a juicy lie myself for them to print" mentality. Smile

FRA, try to see it this way - IF jay will really retire (which i don't see just yet), he won't be busy touring the world. you will always know where to find him (buckinghamshire) and it will be easier for you to track him down and try to meet him. Wink good

otherwise i agree with Space Clav. it really might be the first step in the try to get out of the sony contract. the aussie-interview - which sounds a lot more like jay to me - he even mentions that he will continue producing music and publish it elsewhere. no marketing bullocks, just pure music... Very Happy

Hi there,

Why did I see this coming the last weeks? Who knows... Still, people, he has to finish his contract with Sony... after that is when we need to start freaking!

But I'm sure after he finds a girl, or maybe when he becomes a father, he's gonna write songs about that!

Anyways..., reconsider your decision Jay...
we're all here!

FRA, don't worry, he's already said smth like that several years ago.......
I don't think after spending so much years in music he'll be able to live without live concerts, gigs, new albums and so on.....

So what if he quits?
He simply publishes one concert a year and we're all happy. God knows he'll never run out of them!

My opinion: he spend so much money and time and effort on making 'Dynamite'... but this 2005 brought nothing to him, is not what he expected. That's what I think of all this.

Well, it's just them quoting what The Sun printed. Still no reliable and trustworthy media reporting this. If it's on BBC with Jay himself verifying the information I'll start believing it. For now I'll just relax and stay cool. I consider it an unverified rumour, a fabricated lie until I get real evidence telling me Jay will retire.

I don't think this is true either. I need a better source than the Sun before I start believing this...
