The problem is that if the deal with Sony finishes, will Jay have enough money to promote the Jamiroquai music? or prepare a concert?

So G. Hits will be the final album of the deal with Sony.

Is this the end?

wot f**** r u saying????

Hey! I don't want the end of JMQ!
But if Jay wants to continue without Sony he'll have to get a new record label, because I don't think he has enough money to release an album and all the things that that means, like promoting, tour, etc...

I want the end of the Sony deal too Wink

...and, the new JMQ sound is not all because of Sony, Jay said that he was happy working with Pro-tools, because was easier that way, and that now they don't think in add brass and all the stuff they used to put into the songs...
Jay said that in the Latin America FTV special last month... so I don't think JMQ will be what it was in the mid-'90s because of breaking with Sony... Sad

I HOPE I'M WRONG! I'm just being realist. Very Happy

Bye

sorry but that's not being realistic.
Jay haves enough money to do his own record label, also jamiroquai is a big band and i'm sure there are lot of big labels wanted them......but i don't think jay will be hunt again.......
you can be calm, bacause this is only good new for jamiroquai. It's just the freedom for jamiroquai, they will do what they want in all aspects: musically (is true that jay wanted those new ways for his music), but he will be able to do the albums with as many songs as he wants and all that, and get the control of the releases and all......

is he counting Late Night Tales as one of the 7 mentioned albums? Then he'd only have to do the greatest hits.

It hurts being someone who lives 'in the States' and who continues to support Jamiroquai with a lack of support anywhere in this country. Be it on the radio, MTV, or whatever...no one seems to care about Jamiroquai or Dynamite.

On a personal level it is my second favorite of the albums, only second to TWM. On a listening front it is the only album I love to play from beginning to end, with only 'World That He Wants' being the song that I skip through.

The album is downright sensational. Sure long gone are the days when JK was trying to 'say something' with his music. But this album downright rocks and the best part is the more you listen to it...the better it gets.

His music is a hard sell here in the states especially in today's crappy radio market. From the first time I heard the album back in May I thought one song could possibly make it here in America. That song is 'Love Blind'. It is a song no one ever seems to mention as I'm lurking here on the boards.

It would have to be an edit of the song. Clip out that HORRID beginning to the song right up until the music finally comes in and also edit out the one slow part in the middle and what do you have? You have a great sounding song and lyrically its not fantastic but it has some amazing hooks to it....lyrics that are easy to understand and that are worth singing along to. No offense to the teenybopper music listeners over here...but that's exactly what they are into. And I love the beats, music, and scratches on the song...it makes it sellable. Even with all that I'm not sure if the song could break into the Billboard 200...but I always thought it had the best chance...and it REALLY HAS an AMAZING chance at going to #1 within the electronic singles.

It's been too long...4 years is a long time in the states when AFO wasn't too big over here to start with. But Dynamite is really leagues beyond AFO IMO.

I really think a Love Blind edit with a kickass dancing JK video could make it...at least here in the states. But of course...no one cares about my opinions. Smile

Cool I'm sorry I didn't read every single coment hopefully no-one else already said this:

but, one answer: Reunion of the old band members for the next album.

Stu, Toby, horns, DJ-DZire, etc.

minus the pro-tools, the back-up singers.

Wink

I 100% agree with Deesha here. I don't think the issue here should be the style of music Jamiroquai are playing or which particular genre or niche in the market they currently slot into. Music evolves, styles evolve & so do musical tastes, inspirations & aspirations.

The truth is that there are people who are fans solely of acid jazz like the older material & aren't keen on the newer stuff. You can't expect a band to sound the same as they did ten years ago simply for the sake of old skool fans. Yeah maybe that's meant that Jamiroquai have lost fans over the years but on the flip side they will have picked up support from people who like the new sound. It's swings & roundabout people... I obviously love Jami but that's because of the music. If I like a band & over time their musical styles go in a direction that doesn't excite me: then for me the soloution is simple. I don't listen to them anymore. I don't think we can blame any of the success/failure on musical development & personal tastes. It's all about the marketing & promotion. Previously the group were a mainstream act & I think the mistake has been made of thinking that would continue. Maybe that was short sightedness... However accepting that things aren't in the mainstay now doesn't mean "Dynamite" is a flop. I listen to a LOT of music that isn't mainstream & a lot of my friends have never heard of. Yet for these artists just because their singles & albums don't make it to the top of the charts it doesn't mean they are a failure. In fact they are often big underground succeses.

OK, so Jamiroquai have still played big sell out arena dates on this tour but they needed to go back to the basics like a lot of these smaller bands do. More publicity & more appearances & NOT just on mainstream tv. That's the stuff that caters to kids who have a tendency to listen to whatever is in the Top 40. What's needed is appearances on classier shows & in more upmarket publications to help the more discerning listeners really recognise & realise that Dynamite is a great album...
