Favourite Jamiroquai single?
Going on from the favourite album debate, what are people's favourite single out there?
Though it barely cracked the Top 20 (only reached no 17 back in October '94), Space Cowboy was nevertheless one of the band's greatest hits!
In my opinion, it brought forth the new sound that Jamiroquai would be playing then, a more jazz fusion sound plus a funky video to boot

Not so easy, your question...
My favorite single changes often, maybe because I like all of them in one or the other way.
Right now I really dig Canned Heat because it is so full of power and anger. I can't sit still when I hear it. I just have to boogie....The live performance of this song at Brixton 2001 was soo wicked!!!
Can't get enough of it...
"...got canned heat in my heels tonight, ba-by..."

Ooh...
...I guess it has to be...no wait...
Hard to say, but I think it's Too Young to Die. At least it's my favourite Jamiroquai song which has become a single, along with runner-up Virtual Insanity.
Too Young to Die was Jamiroquai's first commercially successfull single, and a funky tune as well. _________________ Die-hard Jamiroquai fan...or something like that. Whatever, cheers! |

hmm, another brainteaser. Yet AGAIN, Americans get shafted in terms of Jamiroquai music. I have the Import (UK) single of YGMS and its soooo much better than the US version (which I also picked up). The UK ver has nice extras, better casing, and an overall apealling look. The US version has a less attractive orange CD cover and no extras whatsoever. It's rather discouraging that Jamiroquai think so lowly of us US listeners. _________________ You can wait a thousand years in line ...

since i only discovered jamiroquai last year,
i only own the AFO singles , so i dont really know about the others, but i have a uk YGMS, a uk LF and a US little l, and i like the YGMS the best because it has many songs, plus the video, and it's an enhanced cd too! _________________

Fav Single....
Hello everyone, :jay3:
Well, these Jamirotalk topics get more tricky with each log in. I would have to go with "When You Gonna Learn?" cause it was the single that opened my Pop-fused mind to summery greenpeace-laden pastures of Jamiroquai! I love the video, but I always felt that "WYGL" and "Too Young To Die" lead into each other, well yeah on the album, but I would of loved to see a branching video between the two songs. I envision the typical video of Jamiroquai jamming out to "WYGL" with the overlay of criminal abusing of the planet stock footage, then at the end, Jay Kay disappears and lands unsuspectedly in the Mexican desert and looks around then "Too Young To Die" starts playing. Well, kind of would be a Green Day video, but just a idea! Thanks for listening and keep up the great work CosmicMouse & Bear, and Peace to all my fellow Jamirophiles on JamiroTalk!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

JAMIROFAN'S THOUGHT OF THE POST

I wonder if Jay Kay will write a song for
the next album about how much Sony is
screwing up his and Jamiroquai's career?

This thread is really old, but I was searching around for the right place to put my comments.
First of all, I can't decide between Space Cowboy and When You Gonna Learn? Both excellent singles. The first song that I ever fell in love with (after the typical Virtual Insanity, that introduced me) was DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU'RE COMING FROM? and there is a single for that, but I haven't got it, so I can't pass judgement.
That segues to my question. What did M-Beat do as part of the DYKWYCF single? His name and image are plastered all over the cover, and Jamiroquai is almost an afterthought at the bottom. Even the music video says, "M-Beat featuring Jamiroquai", and he's in the video (whoever he is) but he doesn't even sing. What's up with that?
I think Mr. M-Beat got way too much credit for Jamiroquai's awesome song. |

Funny that you mention that subject today Freddie because yesterday I bought the Maxi single of DYKWYCF in e-bay. There are 6 different mixes on it and I'm really curious what they all sound like
I also don't know which role M-Beat plays in this song??? Maybe I can tell when I get the cd |

I have an incomplete mp3 (one of the remixes) and M-Beat adds a few words in (in inappropriate places, in my opinion). Something to the extent of:
"yeah yeah do you know where you're coming from?
yeah, M-Beat kicks the flava in your ear drum
yeah yeah do you know where you're coming from?
yeah, Jay Kay kicks the flava in your ear drum"
Kind of stupid if you ask me. Anyway, this particular mp3 is pitched a bit higher, and Jay sings the vocals completely different. Definitely worth it for hearing the different version of the song, I actually think I like the song itself better this way, I just wish that schmuck didn't ruin it with his poor rapping.
I can't keep talking about this, it's making me too angry. |

Hmm...I used to say that Space Cowboy was my fave, but actually, it's different every week or so). I also really dig Scam and Just Another Story...yep, all from the TROTSC album. But there are so many songs which are so good...I love so much of them. But one special one which I have to mention is the very first Jamiroquai single ever: When You Gonna Learn? (Original Acid Jazz)"as it's called. I just dig every second of it, but specially that part where Jay sings over thse incomming sSynth. chord. I don't exactly know what he sings there, but I believe it starts at 3:545 of the track...(yeah I know. lol)
Anywayz, the thing is, that I think everyones fave track really dpepends of ones moods, eventhough people say they only have one fave song. Right now I really dig the first track of the Azur album, it's on loop! Heh. |

"blow your mind" - because it features the instrumental version of hooked up
"emergency on planet earth" - because it features the acoustic version of if I like it I do it _________________

It has to be... Cosmic Girl! The video with all those expensive (and fast) cars introduced me to the world of Jamiroquai.
Bubblin' under: TYTD, Space Cowboy, Alright and Canned Heat. |

I think both Virtual Insanity CD's had some good tracks on them. _________________ Born the same time that you die
