I never heard about him beeing from a jewish family. He always claimed to be not religous. But it might be still possible that he went to some jewish schools, as far as we know he changed schools a lot due to the career of his mother.
I might be possible that his stepfather James Royal is jewish and cared to get him in these schools.
But it seems it has not left much influence on him, and actually I don't care much about that. _________________

well, if the school system there is like anything here...you don't have to be a certain religion to really go to that religions school.
like many parents put their children in catholic school for the morals and accelerated education over public schools. many of these kids aren't catholic. they just go to school there and that's it..so that is probably what happened with jay and this jewish school. |

It's not the Jewish school that surpises me the most, but the Thames Valley University. I've never heard of Jay having the University degree |

Jeah maybe this is true, but as long this file is from wikipedia it doesn't mean it's true, because articles on wikipedia can be written by anyone. _________________ Too young to die! |

If you read carefully the passage at Wikipedia you see it was a college and became only university in 1992, at that time Jay had already left school, and I think he left without any degree _________________

Oh.
Monisum, thanx for making this clear. It was the term "college" that confused me. I forgot that college in Britain may also mean secondary school. |

'College' in Britain in fact means ONLY what you'd think of as the last two years of secondary school - between the ages of 16 and 18. We never use the word 'college' to refer to university. Except some old people who get confused because it's so long since they were in education.
So I think we can assume that what is now Thames Valley University was, at the time, the college that Jay dropped out of when he was 16 or 17. And you can be Jewish without being religious, because 'Jew' is an ethnic group as well as a religion, but even so I think someone's been telling porkies because if Jay's a Jew by either birth or conversion, then I'll do something crazy like... I don't know. But he's not.

O.K., I'll bite. I don't know much about Judaism, but why would Jay being Jewish (if, in fact, he is) bother you. _________________ -SITTIN' IN THE SUMMER SUN |

Me? It doesn't bother me at all, just seems a slightly odd thing to say given that he isn't. I'm not trying to pass moral judgement on anybody, It's just that it's a statement on a par with 'Jay Kay is half Albanian, half Kenyan', or 'Kay Kay is a small amphibious offshoot of the marsupial family'.
Or were you asking someone else?
