i can't say he influenced me to smoke joints, i never smoked joints nor drink alcohol 'till i had 20, all my friends drink alcohol since 15 or so, and most smoked joints from 16/17/18....
i know jamiroquai since 97 and started smoking cheeba on 02, i always seen cool that jay openly defends marihuana and in a way i smoked because of space cowboy but f course is not the only reason.

I have taken drugs in the past and smoked marijuanna but that is totally unrelated to Jay / Jamiroquai.......

the only way Jamiroquai / Jay has influenced me is to love the music i love with all of the passion i possess and also to be proud of the music i love and to not give a shit what others think about it 7headphones

Same with me mr_moon Wink

And I think everyone has to live his own life and make his own decisions. I think it would be wrong to follow some habits of people if they are famous or not, just because you think that is cool Exclamation

Jay was lucky to crash into the music scene with a damn good first song and very lucky to get that eight album deal with sony soon. Many good musicians are not that lucky and never get a chance. I admire how hard he worked and still works on his music and career, a real capricorn Exclamation

But it could easily have also worked out bad for him. I don't mind if someone smokes marihuana, but he dealed with it to make his living for a while, and he was damn lucky that he ended up not as a street junkie or in prison Exclamation Prison might have included a lot of sex too (like some people here think is a main point of his life), but surely not the way he prefered Rolling Eyes Shocked Laughing

becca well done u on being an under 18 jami fan, i find it soooooo hard to find people under that age who like jami and i'm sooooo sick of people our age not being fans, and also soooo sick of the older fans saying 'you cant be a fan because you've only liked 'em for such and such and i've liked them for ages longer, and you don't appreciate them' when they obviously don't realise that teh more jami is spread through the generations the more people will know of teh great funky tunes they have and the more appreciated they are! Not that people in this forum have been mean or anything, but some of my friends jamiroquai mad parents have been a bit skeptical about me liking 'em

Phew, rant over Laughing
And also, no i've never taken drugs and never will, even if jay has

Ha - you'll survive. I remember being bullied for liking Jami at school when I was your age. And that was in the wake of TWM's popularity! By people who thought All Saints and BoyZone were great!

Plus, those of us who got into them following TWM (either because we were 12 at the time and thus couldn't have really heard much of their stuff beforehand, or for whatever reason) were looked down on by the 'older' fans then - yet this year I've been a Jami fan for ten years of their 14 year existence, and thus am an 'oldie' myself! So don't get down about it. What goes around, comes around. And stuff.

As for the actual subject of this thread, taking drugs because Jay - or anyone else - does, is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Really now...

Yeah I can relate to that. I've been a Jamiroquai fan since I was 7 years old thru the Travelling without moving advert 10yrs ago. From there I didn't do much about it until the past year or so when I have regotten back into music and I'm glad that I have.

The drug thing doesn't effect me at all. I find it offensive but I don't take any of it. The things that I am influence by is the kinda love theme of some of the songs. It always makes me feel happy and influences me a bit. But I guess all music does that.

this kind of goes with this topic. i saw this today and was like Shocked a book explaining marijuana to children..you can actually read the story...you have to look at this book...

http://www.justaplant.com/info/index.html

Despite our best efforts to criminalize, restrict and otherwise hide it in every way we can... children learn about marijuana.

In fact, from the schoolyard to the classroom, kids are flooded with information on it. Unfortunately, most "drug facts" are more frightening than educational, blaming pot for everything from homelessness to teenage pregnancy to international terrorism.

Many parents are not comfortable discussing marijuana use beyond "just saying no." Some have tried marijuana themselves. Others fear that any discussion of marijuana falling short of outright denouncement may be perceived by their kids as permission to try it on their own. In short, parents have few sources of information that puts the safety of their children above political argument and moral lessons.

We believe that a child's first awareness of drugs should come from a better source than the government, the media or drug manufacturers. It's Just a Plant is for parents who want to be involved in discussing and educating their children about the effects, the dangers and the benefits of marijuana.

im 18 now and i've been a jmq fan for about 5 or 6 years, but yes, its not that common to find people so young so fan !
i personally think jamiroquai goes beyond age, a lot of different people can feel identified with their music.

first of all sorry for my english

I´ve take a lot of drugs since when i was 15 (now i´m 20). Then, i don´t know what is jamiroquai (and a lot of other things) Razz . I defend the option of all the people to smoke marihuana if they like it. but in this theme are a lot of hypocrisy. Why other drugs more harder like tobacco or alcohol are legal??¿

That is so very true! Telling kids to "just say no" is extremely naive - did any of us always do what our parents told us, or did we want to discover things for ourselves? Honest and open discussion about drugs is the only way - children are smart enough to make up their owns minds when presented with the facts.

Living in Holland it might sound odd that I, in my 34 years, never had any drugs besides from time to time a couple of drinks and occasionally a lot of drinks.

I do consider alcohol as a drug and maybe even the worst drug because of the avaibility - also to minors - and primarily because there is too much drunk driving

I don't bandito so maybe that witheld me from trying a joint back in the old days ... I am although a tight bit curious what the effect of a joint (or maybe a spacecake because of the no smoking) is on a person so maybe ... someday ... but this curiosity wasn't aroused by the drug use of Jay/jamiroquai but more because of the way we deal with it here in Holland and becuase a couple of friends occasionally take a joint.

I wonder how much time Jay spent here in Holland besides the touring, it's just a short hop over the North Sea where it's all legal.

Offtopic I know, but why do non-English speakers ALWAYS say this? Don't. Your English is much better than my Basque will ever be. And better than my Spanish will be for at least another few years.

I wouldn't mind quite so much if the ones who really ARE bad at English apologised (though that doesn't apply to anyone on THIS forum, I shall hastily add), but when the people who write it flawlessly say it, it's almost as if you're trying to rub in that us Brits are so rubbish with all of your languages...

Wah wah... Crying or Very sad

And as a token gesture to keep this post on-topic, kids: just say no.
