KING FOR A DAY

This review is supposed to be very long, I'm going to try to sum it up for you, so you don't have to read much.
I arrived to the Club Ciudad de Buenos Aires at 9am with a friend from college. 16th on the line. Then, two members of the Jamlatin arrived with the semi-finished flag from the Official Fans Club of Argentina, the Good Vibe Zone. The same logo of the T-Shirts. The four of us painted the whole thing. Pics:

I kept sending text messages to the others to hurry up! And I kept receiving lots of messages too!!! (cells have memory, I couldn't answer them all!!). There are pics of all of us waiting to enter, but I don't know which camera was it, I'll try to get them.

I was in the guest list for the aftershow. I went with Merlina to see how could I get that. We started walking and.... the sound check!!! Yes!!! We could hear 'Black Capricorn Day', '(Don't) Give Hate a Chance', and then 'Starchild'. We kept walking walking, and asking. 'Gate number 5' a guy said. Alright. We passed a LOT of security guys/girls, until we arrived to gate 5..... 30 steps away from the stageee!!!!!! I could see Derrick, Sola and the girls rehearsing!! (Jay wasn't there). We stayed there (couldn't take pics) for like 40 minutes, in the sound check. Tracks like 'Canned Heat', 'Love Fool + Main Vein + Time Won't Wait', 'Little L', 'Twenty Zero One' (I was like crazy when they played that one, 'cool version', I thought... and then I wasn't mistaken), 'Revolution', and the intro of 'Deeper Underground'. Merlina had Ale's (Abou Moslem) ticket, so she had to return for a while. I stayed watching the guys playing, and some info about the Aftershow tickets. Mer came with Ale, and we stayed there for anoter 20 minutes. They finished playing, and they left in a van, right in front of us! We waved and they waved back Wink I could recognize Paul's head hahaha

No info about the aftershow things.

OK, We went back a little bit dissapointed. And I met Flor (very sorry I couldn't talk with you more!!!! I wish I could some other time Smile

5 minutes later, the doors were open and we started running like crazy people to be on the first row (the line was like... 3 or 4 blocks away from the stage, inside the club). People fell off, but they kept running. I managed to be on the first row, in front of the thing like the one Jay danced in the Verona DVD, remember?, but I had to move to the right, to be with all my fellow fans (Rodri, Mer, Letuxxx, Abou, Guly, Pablo, Nico, Maxi, Mariana, Ale, Nati and all all the others -can't remember exact names-, thanks for being there with meeee!!!!!!!!!! I love you all guys). Pics of the stage and all of us:

There were lots of fans from Chile, some of them I met and took us some pics. I'm going to get them.

The first band played. Tony 70. Amazing funk band, we were all very pleased. The next band, Hana.. was pathetic. Mer and Ale started writing 'Tony come back!!!', and other (serious) jokes. Pics:

The next band, Victoria Mil, was a little bit like hell would be. We wanted to kill ourselves.
Luckily, the last supporting act came, Emmanuel Horvilleur. Nice guitarist, although I couldn't enjoy much cause human avalanches started to appear in the middle of the night. Pic of where was I:

When 'Enter The Dragon' appared... well... people went really crazy, I had chicken skin. Jay finally appeared: with the big colorful 'poncho' we wore during EOPE and a NEW HAT!!!!!!! The Dynamite one, but with something like colorful brillantine in the spikes. I honestly couldn't believe my eyes. 'Canned Heat' and Jay was only a meters away from meee!!!!!!!!! The crowd was moving a lot, and I couldn't breathe properly, I had to move from the stage cause I felt like if I was dying! After 'Space Cowboy', and 'Cosmic Girl' (if I remember correctly), we started singing 'ole ole ole Jami...roquai!!!' just like in the Luna Park bootleg. And Jay watching the bandmember and pointing us, looked like he remembered that night in 1999!

'Buenos Airess!!!! It's been sooo loong!!!!!!!!'

Yeah, I was in Heaven! I was even more high -yeah, THAT high too, the smeel was terrible, even Jay said "I smell this 'fff 'fff' (gesturing having a cheeba on his mouth) all the time, is like a constant air that keeps coming here.... I may visit to you guys later', or something like that he said... HAHAHA A song or 2 later, someone threw a cheeba, Jay hold it on his nose and smelled it, and then he put the thing on his hat Smile

Like I was saying, I was even more high, when he grabbed OUR FLAG, the one we painted!!!, and sang showing it!! The flag on the 2 big screens on each side of the stageee!!! I couldn't believe it. I even think he read 'Good Vibe Zone', but I'm not sure, we may gonna have to see the video this saturday, to see all the details.

The tracks they played (not in correct order, sorry):

1. Enter The Dragon (Intro)
2. Canned Heat
3. Space Cowboy
4. Cosmic Girl
5. Revolution
6. High Times
7. Little L
8. You Give Me Something
9. Dynamite
10. Black Capricorn Day
11. Twenty Zero One
12. Use The Force
13. Love Foolosophy + Main Vein
14. Time Won't Wait
15. (Don't) Give Hate a Chance
16. Alright
17. Deeper Underground

Wow! A long setlist now that I write it down! Didn't play Starchild, but Mer and I heard it in the SoundCheck Smile Some tips about the tracks:

-During 'Love Fool', Jay said to, I think it was Matt, to keep playing cause we were dancing and singing like crazy, so the version was a little bit longer than the bootlegs we heard.

-I'm thinking this is gonna be the first soundboard quality bootleg from the Dynamite tour!

-The version of 'Twenty Zero One' (honestly, I was shocked! Remember I posted a couple of days ago, I wanted the Verona version in MP3 cause I loved it???) well.. this version ROCKSSS! Had chicken skin once again.

-People went crazy with '(Don't) Give Hate A Chance' (everyone was singing it. And I THINK, I THINK, Jay said 'this is the last single'), 'Alright', and 'Deeper'.

Oh and there was a guy with the Dynamite hat, like the one I have!!!

OK. I must be missing some stuff, but here we go to the important. Yes, this just started.

I had to find Mer and Ale, cause a girl from Sony BMG told us that we could have the chance to meet and greet Jay. The girl phone Mer in the middle of the show, and she said were we had to go to. After a couple of minutes, we find her. And funkynic (Nico) appeared by surprise! OK, you must be only 4. Cool. We were just 4. The gave us the 'Aftershow tickets' (watch the pics then) and we walked behind the stage. I lost my ticket cause my T-Shirt was all wet! 15 Steps behind was my ticket! Thank God I found it.

'Wait here' she said. We waited for like 10 minutes, along with other people with the ticket (not fans I believe).

Ale noticed that, during a Japan concert, they did playback and a guy played the guitar. We tried to ask if that was him 'mate mate', nothing.

"OK, you can start coming". 3 girls in front of us tried to, but she told us to come first.

And I see Jay. And I give my hand to him, and I say "Jay, congratulations, wonderful wonderful show", 'Woah thanks!". Can we ask you to take a picture with us and sign us photographs? 'Sure'. I forgot to say, the rest of the band was there too, but I talked to Jay first. He signed me!

I show him a pic of the hat I made -an older version :S- and told him 'look, this is the hat I made. I couldn't bring it, it was too big!!!', he inspectioned the picture carefully, but I really can't remember what he said to meee!!!!! Mer, Ale and Nico kept asking for autographs and talking to the band. Some of them even remembered Ale and Mer from the airport!

I shook hand with Derrick, to Rob, Matt and Sola. Paul was behind them, but I couldn't catch him -I think! My mind is kind of blurred. I said to Matt 'I loved your playing during 'Time Won't Wait'!! They were all smiling and in a great mood!! I hughed Sola -don't ask me why- and told him 'I'm Diego, the one that sent you the pic with the hat, remember me??' 'Ohhh yes, Diego, I remember!!!' Sola's the man, for sure. I said to Rob 'I'm Diego, I was in the guest list'. 'Ah yes, right', I told him what happened and said "Yeah, I'm sorry". God! Rob, you don't have to apologize to me!!! LOL I didn't say that, I'm saying it now. Wonderful people, all.
I came back to Jay, and give the pic with my hat to him. 'Keep It'. We all took this 2 pics:

Hehe, you can see my pen in Jay's hands. Well, apparently it stayed there, cause I never saw that pen anymore!

This is TOP news. We asked Jay, what about the Greatest Hits? 'It comes out in November'.
"What about new tracks??" -"2 NEW TRACKS".

I don't remember who, but I think they asked about what will happen after that. I believe he didn't know. We forgot to ask about a possible DVD, or whatever, but we had to leave. Mer and Ale had that pic of Jay with the 'Dynamite' car to sign for them, and Ale said 'That's a stolen car, right?"

-"Haha, yes, a stolen car!"

And he said something about the gringos, but I can't remember that part! Ale help me out here, my mind is blank!!!

Nico told him about the alternative cover of 'Dynamite', and Jay seemed to look him like 'How do YOU know that???'. Ahhhh such informative fans :8

I shook hand with all of them, yes once again haha, as the rest of the guys.

We left the place, and Hazel was there!! 'Could you sign for us??' She was a little bit surprised, but she did. She put 'Jamlatin Thanks for a fab show, Hazel xx', and she took a pic with us (by the way, she's gorgeous!!!!):

We though we had it all, but Derrick appears and we ask to take a pic with him:

Posted image has been reduced in size. Size of original image (243977 KB) is 640 x 480 pixels. Click image to view full size and better quality!

Hehe, we left the place watching out faces, with each other, trying to understand if it was a real situation or not.

So, we took advantage of our 'After show tickets', and we went to the back of the stage. We were heading up, and while on the stairs, a guy says "You can't go there. they are taking all the equipments, you can get hurt".

OK, but we were here:

We left the place. I found 2 Jamiroquai tickets on the floor and took them with me. As we were leaving, we found the other guys we went with, that we didn't see after the concert!! We screamed and hugh ourselves, and told them about our experience. They couldn't believe it, of course.

We were there talking, and talking, and about the flag Jay holded, even some fans that were leaving too said 'that's the flag Jay...?' YESSS!! Hahaha, here we are:

I went home, recorded all the pics in 2 different CD's, aswell on the computer and on the camera itself. I lost my 'Dynamite' booklet and other pics with me and my hat, where we met them. I wonder where those things are!!! And I took this final one:

Posted image has been reduced in size. Size of original image (249317 KB) is 640 x 480 pixels. Click image to view full size and better quality!

Sorry for not taking pics in the concert. It was impossible. But you will. I'm tracking down. The show wasn't broadcast on the radio, the host of the show had a problem or something I think. But on the upcoming days, I'm sure we'll have some info about it. Nico recorded it, but I think the quality isn't good. Let's see. On Saturday they broacast the whole concert.
I heard today that there were no more tickets, they sold out. And that we were like 30.000 people.

Today, I saw an interview with Jay here, talking about the war (Don't Give Hate A Chance, of course), and when he entered to the stage with his brand new clothes Smile

Uffff WHAT A DAY

Thanks everyone for reading, I hope I wasn't boring!

I met Jamiroquai.
Mission accomplished.

D! (dyego)

Congratulations Diego, I have a feeling Noe will be regretting not meeting up with you when she reads this...

Setlist looks alright, it's more or less what we got at Birmingham, with one or two differences. Wish I could've been there!

First of all, I want to apologize for not being able to say goodbye to the guys, and for not being able to do a proper review, so I'll just write what happened to me (you'll surely get bored, so don't read this if you want, I just wanted to explain some points Wink )

When I got to BA I received a PM from Jamirobruno who, as we had arranged long before the concert, would take care of me there, telling me that he was second in the queue and that he was waiting for me. I got to the club at 3 pm and met him (the security people didn't allow me to enter, but Bruno talked with them and they let me in). My godmother and her husband talked to him, and asked him to please take care of me. As my godmother's husband (Juan Jose) saw that Bruno was a god boy, he told him to use his name for the aftershow (Juan Jose was supposed to go with me, but he said that Bruno deserved the aftershow more than him).
While we were in the crowd I met Nico, Ale, Mer and Diego, whom I asked if he knew sth about the aftershow and he said that he had asked everyone he could, but no one knew anything about it. So I decided to wait until the end of the concert. I was in the front row when I entered the field, but while one of the supporting bands (Emanuel Horvilleur) was playing, I started to feel bad there. People were pushing too hard (if they pushed that hard while a supporting band was playing I didn't want to imagine how it would be like when Jay appeared on stage) and I'm a very thin (and weak) girl. I didn't know they would push that hard (as I'd been told, Jami concerts are very quiet, with not many pushes). Me, a girl that was behind me, and a boy who was behind that girl were pushing in the opposite direction, but it was helpless. I had problems with breathing as I was being pushed against the security barricade (dunno if this is the richt word, I mean the security little wall) and I knew that I wouldn't resist for too long so I had to choose between 2 options: I could either try to resist as much as I could although I knew I'd definitely faint after a few minutes (and miss an important part of the concert), or ask one of the security guys to take me out of there and watch the concert at the very back in one of the screens. This is what I chose. The security man lifted me up very high, even my godmother saw me, and she was quite far from there lol. She was alarmed at first, but when she saw I was ok she felt better and told me to go where she was. From there I saw Jay coming out of the van Very Happy. Afterwards, she old me to go to the back of the stadium, because the people there was quieter, so we spent most of the time walking from place to place trying to find a good view. I watched the concert in one of the screens, but if I standed on my toes (or jumped) I could see Jay Smile as tiny as a little insect, but it was cute though Smile

When the concert finished I immediately went to look for Bruno and Diego, so that we could go to the aftershow together, but I couldn't find them Sad. I asked Pablo and two other people from Good Vibe Zone if he had seen Diego and they told me that they had lost him, Mer, Ale and Nico. I went to look for Bruno then, but I couldn't see him. So I thought he had gone to the aftershow with Diego, that's why I asked around 20 security/control guys where the aftershow was, but none of them knew anything. Finally, they were telling the audience to leave the place, and so we did.

When I got to the hotel (quite sad, to be honest) I sent an SMS to Bruno and asked him what the aftershow had been like, and he told me that no one he had asked knew anything about it Confused, and that he was also looking for me, that's why I couldn't find him Sad.

So I wanted to apologize to these people:

*Bruno: if I hadn't thought in MYSELF, I would have stayed in the front row, and we could have gone to the aftershow Crying or Very sad

*Meike: you know why Crying or Very sad

*Thay: for the promise I made to you Crying or Very sad

*Diego, Bruno, Ale, Mer and the rest of the guys I met there: for not being able to say goodbye to them

I'm not sad COTE was not played (I knew it was almost impossible, what makes me more sad is Bruno and saying goodbye to the guys as they deserved Sad ). I'm really, really sorry the blues
