well i dont really know the answers to most of your questions but i have seen him say in many interviews that
"he is no musician......he does everything vocally"
I have also seen him say that Roy Ayers was a great inspiration to him for this very reason. (which i dont really understand tbh)
oh have i mentioned Roy Ayers again..........oops |

He just 'sings' the instrument with his mouth, the notes, and the musicians around help him and teach him. That's what he always say.

I'm sure he can read music, he has a good understanding of minors, and 5ths and 7ths on chords. I've heard him sing them, and people, no matter how talented, aren't always gonna know if the chord will jive. I can sing on pitch, but I can't read sheet music for my voice. I can only read it for my saxophone. And for that, I know what notes go with what passages and so on.
Well, at least I'll say I'm of the opinion that he can read music and I'm sure he does get help from the musicians around him, that comes with the territory. _________________ ~Mégan |
