End of an era
Well, an emotional time for me at the moment. I finished university a few weeks ago, but that's not the reason. Oh no.
Because I've started working on some lyric transcriptions of TWM for Funkin, and when I sat down and put it in my CD player for a first listen through to get myself into the album's groove... it skipped.
Yes. That's right. It's ten years (this month, I think) since I bought my first Jamiroquai CD, and it's started skipping. I look after my CDs. This is the first one (by ANY artist) that I own to start skipping due purely to wear and tear. Ten years ago I was twelve, and that video with the moving floor (or walls? Or furniture? Or camera?) was enough to make me buy an album by a band who've since given me some good friends and a wonderful girlfriend, as well as funking up my CD collection through interviews about their influences, which I've used as 'recommendations'.
It's all a rather surreal feeling. The first proper CD I ever bought is alright for now (some thorough dusting and it was playing OK again), but it's going to need replacing pretty shortly.
And here's me getting sentimental about it.

..the same emotion when i was listening 'Alright' on my TWM vinyl and my stereo cartridge jumped for the first time on a Jamiroquai record.
A record that live with me. Because every record it's part of my life. _________________

don't you think we're a little bit too sentimental about the cd? |

...And that's why I ripped TWM, Synk, and Dyna onto my computer, and then burned the albums on normal CD-Rs.
The original discs - I'm never gonna use them. After all - they're something really special to me... |

well, sam is just a "sentimental sap", but besides that many songs/albums (jamiroquai or not) are connected to memories and distributed by bands that grew up with us. also, music or the influence of someone's music is the reason for the outcome of some things in our life. it sort of served as a catalyst, inspiration or motivation to do or stop doing something that has had a bigger effect on us outside of that 5-7 minute listening pleasure...if that makes any sense (it's early ).
so to answer your question..yes, i think we are - but to me, it's totally natural.

I do listen to them. Those are however, pirate copies (I don't have the time to go to Belgrade and buy the last 3 albums... Neither does my father have the nerves... He hates the band, you know. ) I swear - next time I get to visit a GOOD record store, I'm instantly gonna buy the other 3 albums (And a few singles, if there are some!) You don't know how bad it is to live in a town which only houses 2 record shops, with both of them having no imported music! |

Oh good God, yes. Yes I am. But see what Deesh said!
Besides, the CD itself is like... an item from a different time of your life. It's not ONLY what I put in my CD player to listen to the music. I love my books as well, and I just don't feel at home without my battered old copy of Winne The Pooh by A.A. Milne, given to me by my uncle when I was about 3. A new copy without any tears in the cover or creases or anything just wouldn't be the same...

i understand you
and about the sentimental thing...when you lost your feelings about the life u become a machine...the music is ART¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
the music industry turn the music into a commercial thing, but after all, music is a expression of the feelings...anger, love,confusion,whatever...
that's mean...i dont understand why some people cant understand some of sentimental things about music, at least the music is part of you life, is in the background of your moments...
if u looks the music like anothoer thing work in the music bussines
and dont work with jamiroquai, we have enough of sony _________________ Only a fool can walk away from me this time
