I was thinking:
We say/think that tracks as stillness in time, mr moon, high times, or some other fantastic songs that were not succesful as other singles, or not released as a single must be on the G. Hits... but we only want to listen to new material, and unreleased songs, after all we already have the other songs in albums and singles, so, let's complain because there are no unreleased old tracks instead of complaining because there's Feels just like it should instead of Revolution 1993. Greatest hits normally include only the hits + some little new material.
We know wich Jami songs are the best.
It's more possible that someone who almost doesn't know the band will buy the album because he/she saw a video clip of a man in a room with a moving floor, and because the names of songs like "cosmic girl" "alright" and "deeper underground" sound familiar to him/her. If Sony, Columbia, or whatever, includes the "no single" songs ths kind of people will not buy the album.
at least I think that... |

..but then why don't include in the GH a second cd for the people who love that man "in a room with a moving floor"?.. Does know Sony that a 'simple' collection will not feed the 'old' fans?..
A "compromise" may be the right answer: a double disc pack, with the first one with the Hits (for new adept people) and the second one with some rarities (Live, BSides or unreleased tracks). Then Sony will hope to sell that GH.. _________________

But they prefer to sell this simple compilation + new tracks because a 2cd set would be more expensive por people who doesn't love Jamiroquai, and maybe they just don't buy it.
Let's face it, they don't want to feed old fans, look at the singles of this album? any b-side/live song as an extra? no |

Everybody complains - and what can we do? Nothing. Sony's not picking the best tracks, they're picking the best-selling selling tracks. FJLIS is not a bad song - it's just kinda off-course.
Judging by the track picks, and this being just the promo - I think we'll face more stupid tracks like FJLIS.
Greatest hits + Sony picking top selling singles = Greatest SonyHits
Greatest SonyHits - ony = Greatest Shits.
Yeh... I'm sure it'll be like that if Sony keep picking the best-selling singles INSTEAD of the good songs. We have to deal with the fact that this'll be a very bad compilation, if not a disasterous one. I mean, just look at the tracklisting! Only 1 song from the god of all Jamiroquai albums - TROTSC. Makes me shiver.
A compilation of B-sides and other rare tracks would be better... But noooo... Everything must be strictly-best-seller.
Sony are both the leaders and the biggest idiots in the music industry. Face it. 'Cause I can('t). |

If only Stu or Toby had taken part at least in the writing of those 2 new songs, even if they`re not part of the band anymore (I know that the chance of this is close to 0%)... That would spice up this GH! |

i wouldn't say always and everything sweetheart. they are doing something right to still be around and be successful. truthfully - yes they suck (as do major labels), but they know what they are doing - making money by all means necessary.
i would love to be there when artists sign contracts with SONY. i'd ask them if it hurt$ when the $oul leave$ the body? _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |
