Why many people dont know jamiroquai
Hello everyone
It was 5 o clock in the morning when i started to drive to work
i listened to moring glory saw the sun rising you know...
then i started to think about jamiroquai why so many people dont know this band...
then after half an hour i made my desition:
the reason for this is that jamiroquais music is no music what you can play on mtv and so on....
many people cannot know them
did you have seen space cowboy on mtv yet???
i havent
jamiroquais music is no commertial music for everyone (or not for the maker of musictelevision) you can see videos like cosmic girl deeper underground or little l in tv but the best songs are left out! (this songs arent bad i love every song).
in german television was recently a show that was named "mtv masters 1000".
they said now we show you the musicvideos you havent seen because they are not or style.
then they shown musicvideos i have often seen on mtv and made a little report of jamiroquai with a part of space cowboy and other videos...
its a shame that they dont show jamiroquai!!!
so my questions for you are:
why so many people dont know jamiroquai(maybe its only in germany..??)
is mtv a music channel anymore?
show any other channel in another country often jamiroquai?
beep beep im out^^ _________________ maxud braucht funk food denn dann bleibt maxud maxud

I haven't seen any dynamite video on Mtv yet, but maybe that's because I don't ussually watch mtv, although I remeber watching little l and love fool (back in 2001/2, not nowadays). here in Argentina I've seen many times fjlis, sdisj and dghac on Much Music, it seems that they like more JMQ than Mtv does heheheh
what I see here, is that a lot of people know about jami, but 90% of them know them as a singer, they don't know them as a band (I think that happens more or less all everywhere, not only here ). even a friend of mine told me once "oh, I tought it was just a singer with a dj on stage!"
on the other hand, I've heard a lot of jami tunes as background in a lot of tv shows lately (and not only shows related to music/cars), which is a great thing
so, that's the situation in Argentina/Buenos Aires.. |

I think that in Argentina they are relatively well known, but not in in Germany, neither in Spain.
They've done some great performances here and they have great fans here. The thing is, in my opinion, and correct me if I'm wrong, that those who aren't jamiroquai fans in the sense of the word don't know who they are. Some of them have listened the name 'jamiroquai' but they don't know exactly where, some of them think (like Marina said) that jamiroquai is a guy with bizarre hats, but the majority don't know who they are and which kind of music they do.
Probably that's a key thing in Jamiroquai's world: they are known and ignored at the same time. Sometimes I see jami videos on TV and I listen the most commercial songs on the radio, but people don't care. It's difficult to find a rational cause. It seems like Jamiroquai live between a world who know who they are (a world who has bought 20 milion albums) and a world who think that jamiroquai is a guy with bizarre hats or a name that they've never listened before. And I presume that it will take too long.. |

Even if Jamiroquai has a cool logo and the singer is an amazing dancer and (more or less) fashion good-looking. I think this kind of facts use to help bands to grow in the mind of the people, but this have never happened with Jamiroquai (probably with TWM, but a lot of people who bought that album think that they're dead now).
Maybe that's probably because, despite of the fact that jamiroquai could seem cool, they kind of music is.. ..SPECIAL? Some of their songs (little L, Cosmic Girl, SDISJ) could have commercial success, but the majority use to sound...special...that's maybe why we love jamiroquai, but that's maybe why they're not well known in some countries. (I'll keep on thinking about this, because it's an ineteresting topic) |

Marina, I saw twice 'FJLIS' on MTV and only once 'DGHAC' when they came here.
In Argentina this is what happens: you say 'Jamiroquai' and many people don't know the name, but once you put "Canned Heat", or "Little L", or "Love Fool", they say "aahhhhhh those are Jamiroquai??? that song is very known!!"
At least, that's what I do when people doesn't know Jamiroquai. And I do know a LOT of people who knows the band, and have a great respect for it.

when I used to say to some school friends I like Jamiroquai they always said "!what???"
ome of them saw the tv add when the album was released and said "that Jamiroquai is so gay" I don't know but I think Jay has thata first impression on some people (when the see the videos without paying any attention to music) |

Yeah thats what my friends say about Jamiroquai. Ugh
I don't watch much TV nowadays due to being so busy. Over here in Australia MTV is a part of Foxtel which I don't have(as I don't really need). So I don't get to watch MTV. My friend has it and he has told me that the last few times that he has flicked it on there has been DGHAC and he's seen a few other clips from previous albums. Another friend said that they had some kinda special on them as well. I think that it was on MTV as well.
I have also seen some of the clips from Dynamite on Australian music shows. Jay was on Rove a few years ago and also featured in the paper before Dynamite came out.
The reason why you would not see much of their older stuff is because the media(TV shows etc) don't want to show it as they are and can be selective. I think that the media think that Jamiroquai are now deadbeats. And only 'do' dance/disco music(hence why you don't hear their older stuff). So they don't show much from them apart from their best(in medias opinion which would be Little L, Cosmic girl etc.) hits.
Anyways so all of these messages that the media portray of Jamiroquai make the average joe believe that they are finishing up, that the have had their highlight years and are growing stale. Hence people lack intrest.
I don't think that I coveyed my point across well but I hope you get it. _________________

first of all, jamiroquai is one of the bands u should know if u want good vibes and i think many fans here think the same...
after that, i can explain alot of things...
yea in argentina the people know jamiroquai but looks like many of them dont know about what the band makes now or dont know big part of the stuff...looks like here jamiroquai is a band with fans but when this become bigger only someones-the fans-know the albums, songs, why the band is like is right now, why jay kay love the cars and things who only the fans can know...like why stu leaves the band...if u are out the band maybe is not ur kind of music or maybe many people dont know all the albums, even if they are in every musimundo or another place where the music have sales in argentina...i must say im proud of live here in mendoza where i can go to a musimundo and i can find all the discography...the bad thing is there's alot of albums who still in the musimundos, i wish more people can feel the jamiroquai vibes and buy more albums, they want to be buy it...ok, i can sound a bit crazy but all the albums i have MUST be buyed if u want to know a band who have 15 years of history and a big success in the past and now is in a midtime and all we are watching what comes now...i dont talk about mtv because, well, i think something alot of time before i joined this forum...
mtv suxs, and if u want to discover music u want is need to do a personal
search, when u discover a band who can help u in the bad and good times even if u are tired and u want to know more, go on, but is better when u find music who makes ur soul feel great, u must go on, the tv not always help, many times u can find when u are out the house, out the routine...
if u are here maybe u find finally part of the music who moves your soul, welcome
and if someone is reading this thread, go on¡¡¡¡¡
start with emergency on planet earth, continue with the return of the space cowboy, next travelling without moving...and ur gonna wish buy it all the jamiroquai stuff
peace and good vibes people _________________ Only a fool can walk away from me this time

totally agre Azzie, mtv (well not only mtv, almost every music channels) only shows the "recent" music videos (with a few exceptions). but I guess that in some point is ok, because mtv is a business, it's not supposed to show the best music videos of all times, right? |

They sold the maxi single of FJLIS, I think that there's some stock yet, if you search very well you'll find the cd. |
