ON MYSPACE: Nick Van Gelder!!!!
Hello,
I found a old face of "Jamiroquai's Bandmember Past" on MySpace today . Old Jami Fans might remember Jamiroquai's first drummer Nick Van Gelder, well, I found his music profile on MySpace today, he replied to one of my uploaded Jami Videos on MySpace. Great to see him and boy is his original music AWESOME, click here and add him today to your buddy list:

I will message him on MySpace and ask him some choice questions about his experience with the early Jamiroquai, when I get the answers back, I will post them here on Talk! Enjoy!
Sincerely,

i already knew it (i think somebody told it here before about it)
the oddest thing is that he haves a jk quote on his title phrase:
""They shouldn't make these geezers"-JK"

This was my plan for next week... Hey Jamirofan, could I send you several questions that I want to ask from him? I don't wanna bomb him with my questions... I'm also planning to catch Stu and Winston Rollins/Simon Carter for a short Q&A on Myspace. |

yeh most people seems to forget me actually...
and yes, i've been doing some searching the day i joined MySpace and found his space, and after writing some times to him, he replied and said he was invited to stay here in Venezuela with a friend... so cool i think!
he's such a nice guy! and an important one for the oldskool funk! _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

After looking at Nick's page, this caught my eye
| Quote: |
| Nick was introduced to new Acid Jazz signing Jamiroquai in late 91 by Sandals drummer and friend Wildcat Will .The young driven J.K had already recorded with members of The Brand New Heavies and was looking to start his own live band! |
does anyone know about these "recordings" of Jay with BNH? I would love to hear these tracks if available |

I think that's just the WYGL original demo recording. Members from BNH helped out in the beginning. Perhaps some more material was recorded at the same time though... we don't know for sure. Either way it's not been released and probably is locked away in Jay's vaults (if it still exists). _________________ Old school forever! |

Nick truly is a gifted musician. Not only is he a remarkable drummer, he's also playing bass, keys, guitar & percussion. On his forthcoming studio LP 'Choose Music' he's playing everything... and he sings too although he's also getting some help from some friends laying down vocal tracks and playing horns.
Thank God for this extremely talented multi-instrumentalist and his song writing skills. Thank you Nick for keeping the acid jazz flag flying and staying forever true! _________________ Old school forever! |

He did (at least some of) the percussion on EOPE.
He was also in Nick's band Akimbo:

You can see him doing his thing when they did TYTD at Top of the Pops in March 1993:

This must be one of the few times he was captured on film in the band - I'm sure there are others, but I can't remember seeing them!
Interesting that Maurizio Ravalico did percussion before this on TYTD on Lulu's Big Show in late '92 and then was back in the live band by June '93 for BYM on TOTP. _________________
