I quit my job tonight. I just walked away. In the middle of the shift I just walked away. The schedule and all of the shitty managers there had pushed me over the edge. I was staying for what could potentially be a $4,000 bouns. Money I need. But it was to the point where I didn't care anymore. I would've had to wait at least 3 months to see that money and I couldn't do it... I'd go crazy if I stayed any longer.
I feel liberated, but in a sense, it goes against everything that I normally. I mean give a job 2 weeks notice. Don't quit a job until you hve another lined up. I just couldn't stay anymore. I just couldn't. I have this off my chest and a long weekend to reflect. I hope to only be jobless for a week or 2. We'll see... |
i know exactly what you are talking about! i did almost the same last year. i got so fed up and frustrated with my old job that i walked up to my bosses and told them that i'm going to quit. i didn't have a new job, didn't have any savings, didn't know what to do - and still felt pretty good about it afterwards. i didn't quit on the spot as i had to fulfill my contract (otherwise they would have sued the living daylight out of me) i handed in my notice on a friday and i remember that i felt soooo good the weekend afterwards. sometimes you just have to do such things. and now - several month later - i'm in the UK, a place where i always wanted to go and have a pretty cool job that i really enjoy.
i am sure something good will happen to you as well! i'll keep my fingers crossed for you and will keep up some positive vibes for ya, fella! |

Too true! My husband was a motor mechanic for twelve years (in Australia), came home one day and announced "I'm never going to fix a car ever again". We went that afternoon to enrol him to finish his highschool diploma, then he went to university and now he's a PhD in physics and we live in Geneva! Those scary steps into the unknown can really pay off, and you never know what is around the corner unless you take a chance! _________________

Rachael - That is awesome for your husband and family...wow!
Damn Pete! Bear is right and I know you've hated that job for a long time. You are still in school too, so I know brighter things are ahead for you. Good Luck babe - I have faith in you homey!

Pete : sometimes it pays to be impulsive. I'm sure you've made the right choice and things will work out for the best.
Good Luck and Good Vibes!

Things will work out Pete. Everyone knows you're not a quitter & I know how your work's been getting you down. I know it's a cliche but money isn't everything especially at the cost of your health & sanity... Am proud of ya!!
Hopefully talk soon...

...and this is why i f**kin love mos def. people say hip-hop is so horrible, at least they stand up for what they believe in...if anyone hasn't heard this song or seen this video, you need to. it's so dope. i saw it last year...
Here is the you tube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2FlcRVTuCA
anyway, story made me smile. true, it probably wasn't the best way to stand up for what you believe in, but drastic times call for drastic measures. oh, and there's a free download link in there too for those jamirotalk mos def fans (if there is any):

EXCLUSIVE: Mos Def's 'Boogie Man' - Free Download
Posted by Michael Yu, Sep 01, 03:57 PM EST
By now, most of you probably heard that Mos Def was arrested last night, after giving an unauthorized performance in front of NYC's Radio City Music Hall during the MTV Video Music Awards. According to reports, the Brooklyn bred rapper pulled up around 10pm in a flat-bed truck and started to perform the song "Katrina Clap," a song that attacks President Bush's slow response to Hurricane Katrina, before being arrested.
While it is not known what exactly happened that an arrest had to occur, we did manage to get our hands on an exclusive track today from his upcoming album 'Tru3 Magic,' due out on September 26th on Geffen Records. This shouldn't lead to any arrests, so sing on Mos Def.

I aint gonna lie here and say that i know all of Mos-def's back catalogue but, i do respect him as an mc
The tracks i do know of his are shit hot in my opinion.
Sex, Love and Money, Ms Fat Booty etc etc
I say good for him for sure! I respect anyone who goes to such lengths to convey there beliefs!
And besides this needed to be said by someone |
