R.I.P. Mr Crocodile Hunter
Sadly Steve Irwin has passed away. From what I've read he was filming an underwater documentary when a stingray attacked and penetrated his chest with its deadly tail.
Watching him on TV was always very interesting and funny. He was full both of adrenaline and respect for the animals. This combined with the dangers and his wit made the shows very entertaining.
He helped animals get back to their natural habitat and he helped humans understand nature better and learn to respect and know dangerous animals. All while making good TV. He will be missed.

Damn... that's some crazy news. Eventhough he put his life on the line everyday, I never thought he'd actually die doing that stuff. He always seemed to be one step ahead of death or serious injury from the animals he handled.
At least he died doing what he loved. R.I.P. _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

that's a real sad news!!
I've always watched is tv show!! I even used to point the alarm to be infront of the Tv right in time!!
He was doing a great job and his death is a real pain for all animals lover, and "good human beings" lover!!
I don't know what a stingray is ..but anyway it must have been a real clever animal to made him!! like someone said he was always faster !
yes at least he was doing what he loved more to do!! and I'm sure this was the way he wanted to die, not x sure soffering in a hospital!
R.I.P man!

R. I. P. Steve Irwin
He will be missed: everyone when I was at work this morning was talking about the guy & how sad it was. Pretty remarkable for a guy who none of us know in person...
Thinking of his wife & kids too... |

What terrible news it is - he was such a wonderful man who did so much for Australian wildlife, conservation and tourism. It's just so sad that someone who was 'making a difference' in the world was taken away too early. We are all in shock here in Australia - we were all so proud of him as he was such a great Aussie bloke.
He will be sadly missed and will be irreplacable

i was crying and i didnt even know the guy!
i think that shows just how loved he really was!!

I've got to say until I read this thread and saw posts from people in Italy and the States, I had no idea he was such a global figure. Our TV companies share a fair bit of stuff with Australia's as it is (especially natural history), so I'd always assumed he was only really well-known in Oz and Britain.
He's a proper legend, though. And in fairness it's probably the way he'd have wanted to go (or at least a variation on it!), and he died instantly. RIP Steve.

Steve Irwin was a brave, brave man who lost his life doing what he does best.
My thoughts are with his wife and children, and his colleagues at the Australia Zoo. He will be sorely missed.

Dang - they were saying this morning that there has only been 17 deaths worldwide from stingray barbs.
Much love and prayers to his wife and two little ones. Crazy! _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |
