Its good, not the best out there. I hope that a CD after Greatest Hits shall be the return of Jamiroquai of old.

The song is neat but not very funky. I think that the 'smoothness' of the song has smeared the funky soul that it could have had.

don't start with that.
you won't be attacked for saying you don't like the song or that is bad, but simply is not the "most false protooled, terrible, nonfunky, disappointing jamiroquai single"
not even for you.

so you say that using drum machines and using protools makes it an amazing song? wow! that's pop man, not funk! in pop there's where they use machines and all that stuff... not in funk... i dunno...

i never said that. what are you talking about?

Slightly off-topic:

I've said this before (I'm an avid defender of ProTools)... ProTools isn't the main reason things sound clinical. Any DAW gives the same results. It's digital for God's sake. And you can cut and paste in any audio sequencer.

It's what you do with it that counts. Don't blame the tools, blame the craftsman (ie the producer). With the right plugins or external gear you can achieve an old school sound with modern equipment like ProTools. ProTools is actually an de facto standard in the business.

Oh, and with enough patience and skill you can use a sampler or a drum machine and create drum grooves that would be more or less impossible to distinguish from real drums. That wouldn't be very cost effective though... a drummer would lay down those grooves in no time compared to the time needed to program realistic beats.

:end of rant:

i have to disagree with that... Dynamite was horrible and shocking compared to AFO... dynamite is boring as fuck.... the tour was even more horrible... there was no energy in it ... as much as i despise the cd its still better than dynamite... the afo tour was amazing had superb energy! ... the dynamite tour was dull as fuck!

I'm sorry Mike, IMHO Dymanite is far far away better than AFO...

Ehh...in my opinion,Dynamite AND A Funk Odyssey were the weakest offerings of Jamiroquai. I'd have to put both in my bottom two if I were to rank all of the albums.

BUT, I would put AFO in front of Dynamite since that had slightly better songs on it,IMO. But still, neither were my absolute favorite albums. Smile

Thanks Smile Smile Smile I also couldn't decide which word it should be - either snapping or stabbing - they sounded so similar - but I thought it was 'snapping at my heels' as it's an saying that I've heard before Smile

The only bit I'm not sure about is the...

"(Interlude)

Got to make it, got to make it
Got to break it, got to make it "

I'm not sure if Jay's saying 'make it' all the time, or if the 'break it' bit stays as it is.

yeh i agree with that!!
Although they didn't have the best line up on the AFO tour, the sound of the band was ten million times better than the current one! for example, listen Live in Verona, and the quality musically is so much better than any of the Dynamite concerts

Okay, I'm now leaning towards loving it... a few more listens, especially through a set of good headphones, has made a big difference Very Happy

Hi there, back again

I've listened to the track like 6 times again yesterday, and is really growing on me. I think with a cool video, this could be a great Jamiroquai release, even better than all from Dynamite. The song is catchy, and I DO FEEL FUNK on it.

Ed, the thing is, you can disagree on the fact you don't like the song, is all good!! We can't make you change your mind, of course, but I do think that you don't need to agree again when the users say 'I don't like it'. You don't need to reply again thanking him, or anything, you made your point.

Is all good Wink

D!

Well I really like the song...but so far I only heard the the smaller official sample...
I am slightly digging the remix more....first time for me, as I am normally no special remix fan. But I think it is because I heard it first. You know it ist like with films or books. Wink You often dig more what you had first.

Anyway the song is good for me. Although I think it will not be one of the big hits. The song fits into the style of the Dynamite album songs...
I would have prefered a bit more funk but pop...but usually I am growing to the songs after a while... Wink Very Happy
