Yes...I have a question too. I didn't understand well the part about Sony. What is Jay saying? Sony didn't want to use horns or string in tours? Am I right?

...you have the right to joke on me...italian school is very poor about the spreading of the english language Wink

sorry to sounds so ''new era fan'' but i love FJLIS

sounds so weird, is so strange to listen...sometimes u need a song like that for wake up and have fun Cool

I don't hate FJLIS, not at all. For him to call it his favorite song that he has done is pretty surprising to me

well, i understand that, along of 15 years of career and he chosse that song...i think i know why he chosse the song

the style is really a mix between pro-tools and instrumental.
in some way the song(for good or bad)is a mix of styles...maybe that's why he chosse the song Very Happy
i must recognize the first time i listen fjlis i think WTF?and then i want to listen again, and again, and again... Razz
i listen loud and so many times...maybe is a mesage to all for say''i like this new sound'' radio have some of this sound and runaway have some things too...who know, maybe the years to come are gonna be more a experimentation years for the band Very Happy

buffaloman_R Hello, buffaloman_R

Smile Well, for one thing, Pete Tong was COMPLETELY right, this is one of the most "honest" JK Interviews I have heard in a long time, they only real interviews that come cost to this one were always the printed magazine ones Smile. To answer your question FunkyDonkey, after several listens, J signed with Sony to get access to funding for the horns/brass sections on the first album. On the question of the live performances when they were under the "ACID JAZZ" label, he always felt that he was responsible with paying everyone in the band, and of course they always showed up on time when they had a gig. Also, he noted, that there being "street" was the look back then for up and coming artists, so there would be a feeling that going to the majors (major labels) early would cast this "sold-out" vision onto him and the band, that he felt that wasn't his intention. I hope that answers some questions, thanks for listening and...Wink Special thanks as always to Russky and Zsoma for great recordings of these interview, much appreciated guys Wink!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

P.S. Very Happy I've already started the cogs of my "investigating" in trying to find out if anymore of those early JK "Natural Energy" whitelabels still exist, if I find something, you will all know Very Happy!

Thanks of the explanation Brent, very detailed Wink I was completely out of understanding... Agree with you about the honesty of the whole interview.

"Peter Tong" - i've never heard him called anything other than Pete. Smile

Just as an aside, Pete Tong is the person who you can just hear introduce Jamiroquai on the second part of the If I Like It I Do It bootleg, where the band played on the Pete Tong show live on Radio 1 in April 1993 - just when the kick off with that amazing version of Emergency On Planet Earth.
