Jay Kay Quitting Music... For A Year
JAY KAY QUITTING MUSIC
JAMIROQUAI frontman JAY KAY is quitting music for a year, in a bid to return to his creative peak. The VIRTUAL INSANITY star feels Jamiroquai's Greatest Hits album has given him a sense of closure and he wants to take a break before returning back to the basics he mastered with the group's early material. He says, "On the first album we had flugelhorn solos. I know we probably overdid it, but it was fun, it was good, it was creative. I want to get back to making music like that. "I like the sense of closure that the greatest hits album has to it. I've closed this chapter of my career at the right time and it's great. "I'm ready to move on and see what comes next - a year off, that's the plan."

I think he's just taking time out to recharge - lots of musicians do it, but one thing musicians don't do is just give it up! It's part of who they are! Don't worry, he'll be back better than ever _________________

we discussed this a few times and my answer is still the same.
the man has bills to pay and a soul full of music to feed - he isn't going to completely stop. _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

He won't stop completely yet, no need to worry. He's way too young, too talented, to hooked up on the drug called music to retire for good. He's just taking a well deserved break.

He can't quit it. Whatever it is he just can't stop. _________________ Old school forever! |

He just needs a rest that's all. He'll be back when he's ready.

This is an exact quote from the Mail on Sunday interview - so don't worry - they're just quoting what he said from that interview and making it seems 'worse' than it really is.
Most artists after they finish an album want to take some time off, so it's not something new that Jay & the band of doing - they've worked hard so it's now about 'me' time for a while - I think it'll be great for them in the long run so they can work out which direction they want to go and come out with a kick-ass new album in a few years

Yeah, what Samantha said. The Daily Hate (as those of us with good sense refer to the Mail) can never be relied upon for anything less than utter sensationalism. It's amazing they didn't try to blame Jay's little sabbatical on black people or South Asian immigrants, to be honest...
Read the content, not the headline.

if waiting more will give us a good album I would prefer to wait rather than to have bad album but in little time |

So many times we hear rumour about jay quitting music every time my heart sinks. It was really nice to see that interveiw on T4 on saturday morning and jay was asked direct where he was going with music. Jay replied he isnt going to give up but admits now and then needs a break. He then says something like he couldnt quit because there isnt much else he can do.
Looking forward to new album however long it takes what he does he does it real well |

I think it's cool that he's taking a break to go back to the basics. I love their old AND new stuff, but their old stuff is what I first heard and grew up with so it has really stuck with me more.
Plus, as quickly as time moves nowadays(for me,at least),a year will be NOTHING.
I'll manage the wait. I'll just listen to their older stuff like I usually do.
Can't wait to see what they shell out in the future. I don't see JK quitting at all...at least not for several more years. Just by listening to some of the newer songs and live renditions of older songs, you can still tell that the creativity is still there. Might be a BIT weaker than it was on their older stuff, but it's still there. _________________ Just play my tune... |
