Why are you still committed?
Yesterday, I was talking to one of the girls about commitment and how when you commit yourself to someone or something, you invest in it. Whether that investment is time, finances, emotions or physical, it is *usually* something that you enjoy to the point where those sacrifices and investments are worth it. We then made a list of things/people we are committed to and Jamiroquai was on my list.

She didn't understand how or why the band made the list or why I am so faithful to them. I gave them an assigment of picking one thing on their list and explain why they are so committed to the person/thing.

So it got me thinking...why are you so committed or faithful to Jamiroquai?
So many fans have dropped off over their 15 year career span and still you (we) are here. What keeps you checking Funkin and Jamirotalk daily for news? What makes you travel to other countries to see them perform or spend ridiculous amounts of money on merchandise and music?
Honestly, through all the changes, why are you still around? What is it that keeps you so committed?

This is really a good question , wow , well i first met jamiroquai in 1994 when i was 9 years old, my brother show me the cd "emergency on planet earth" and i cant explain what happened but the music just gave me a felling and i didnt stop listening to it till now , now i am 21, i have all the records, have been to all the concerts here in Argentina , and the music of this awesome band keeps giving me that felling that i cannot put into words, is something thats makes me smile and forget about everything, is that, we can call it , "vibe" that keeps me faithful to this incredible group of artist that make jamiroquai unique.

what i can say?
im a fan in fact since 1997 when i discover the music but in that times i dont know the name of the band Laughing Laughing
so the fact that discover the band and then buy cds, find all the videos, hear all the songs i can of them...well, is a escape from the troubles of my life when i listen jamiroquai...so i cant say really why, i love this sounds and the meaning of the songs, i love the music and how make me feel better even when i feel really down...in fact never the money-time i spend in jamiroquai hurts me, for me is more like a escape to all the virtual insanity we are livin'in...is a way to feel things that i cant feel in another ways...hard to explain, like the strokes says in a song Laughing Laughing

it is a great question, and so well asked.

i love the music of jamiroquai, i felt in love with it since the first time i listened it in 1996, it opened a full new musical world in me, as more i heard from them amazed me more and opened my mind a lot in musical therms.
i still listen to bands that use to be my favorites before jamiroquai, as "su ta gar" (heavy metal) or "kortatu" (ska-rock), "negu gorriak" (roots-rock-rap-reggae) or "la polla records" (punk) for basque bands or nirvana and gun's n' roses for international bands (i DON'T listen guns' n' roses now) but thanks to jamiroquai i discovered the funk, the acid jazz, the disco, the jazz and in fact to apreciate still more good music from any kind of.
jamiroquai's music still makes me and will make good vibrations on me and my commition (if it's that the right word, i didn't know the word commited) to this band is like a tribute for this mind blow, a way to resume all the music feeling in one representing.
my commition with jamiroquai represents my love for the music, and a thank giving for helping that much on the development of it.

(i explained well?)

Since 1992 we've been through good times and bad times. I can't really say why I'm still committed. It's just the way it is. As long as they keep churning out music I like I will be faithful. And even if they took a path I definitely don't approve of, or if they simply retired, their old stuff will still be there. I would still try to find whatever bits and pieces of Jamiroquai history I don't already have. I sort of started losing my faith in 1999 already. I missed Zender. Synkronized is still a very good album though. In 2001 I was devastated. I didn't like AFO at all. Sure, some tunes where quite catchy. But it was bubblegum pop compared to their earlier material. I can appreciate it for what it is now, but back then I lost my faith completely. Then it was very silent for a while, especially here in Sweden. I kept looking for promos and stuff on record fairs etc. With Dynamite being announced my fire was lit once again. I had hopes for the future. The album was sort of a disappointment because I had expected (wishful thinking, very dangerous) that the horns would be back. But still... the record was light years better than AFO in my opinion. It lacked that raw unpolished engery and edge the early albums had. But it was in a way a step back to basics. My hopes were up. And they still are. The recent intimate gigs in London has proven beyond doubt that Jamiroquai are still going strong. The band is very skilled and I certainly look forward to the new stuff after Sony.

That's very simple to answer, I live in a country that is about 82 km long and 53 km wide so I am very quickly in a foreign country. Since Jamiroquai don't play in Luxembourg (which is a shame) I have to travel whether to Amnéville/Metz in France (about 50 km from here), Brussels in Belgium (about 200 km) or to festivals like Rock Werchter in Belgium(about 200 km) or Rock am Ring in Germany (about 80 km).

I hope you know the metric system, because I can't express those distances in miles.

The answer to why I am commited to Jamiroquai is very simple : I simply adore their music, they're my favourite band. Wink

well, for me it's very simple ... their music makes me feel good. Wether I'm feeling down or angry or dissapointed, puttingonj some jamiroquai always helps.

Way back in 1994 I got TROTSC for my birthday from a friend because she knew I liked Kool & the Gang, Earth Wind & Fire and so on and it was an instant love for this band which didn't simmer down. Looking back there are albums (or songs) I like better then others, which is not a pre-Zender or post-Zender issue, but overal it it's (still) the best damn band there is, especially live.

Travelling to other countries to see them wasn't something I would do that easily. I got a couple of friends who are into Jamiroquai but not as much as I do, they won't travel to other countries for them and going alone was no option for me. Last summer everything changed by meeting wonderful persons in my (former) hometown of Rotterdam followed by Lokeren and last october the Jazz café gig ... the people I met during those three gigs makes me even more of a fan and make me proud of being part of this great community - thanks guys/girls

as for visiting Jtalk or Funkin', that was primarily for getting new downloads but that evolved into something bigger - jamily

I don't spend that much money on the band. I don't really collect besides their original stuff. I don't need to have everything in my possesion but in those 12 years that I'm into jamiroquai I gathered some stuff with a lot of help from a friend who worked in a recordshop. The Canned heat fleece (which I bought immidiately after it surfaced in the shops) was probably my biggest investment but I still wear that fleece a lot so it was definetely worth the money. Maybe this will change because I know now that going to a foreign gig is a lot of fun so maybe I'll spend some more money on seeing them somewhere else ...

Jamiroquai has become part of life. Something special that it's always there, with different kind of song according to different moments and feelings. All of my friends think about me when they see the buffalo man. What more can I say. Fortunately, Jamiroquai is part of me.

a previous teacher of mine said " sandra, i told already sooo many people about u and that u are in contact with people all around the world because of this one band.."jamiroquai"right?..." it´s seems kinda crazy or mad to other people LOL

i am still commited because this music is just made for me..or was i born for this music..howeva...
