I'm so sad to hear this...

James Brown was an absolute legend and an inspiration to so many fellow musicians. He will be missed, but his music will live on.

Thank you, James. Rest In Peace.

JAMES Brown, the dynamic, pompadoured Godfather of Soul, died yesterday at the age of 73.

Brown had been admitted to hospital on Sunday with pneumonia, said his agent, Frank Copsidas, of Intrigue Music.

Brown's longtime friend, Charles Bobbit, was by his side when he died, Copsidas said.

Brown's family was being notified of his death and that the cause was still uncertain.

Along with Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan and a handful of others, Brown was one of the major musical influences of the past 50 years. At least one generation idolised him, and sometimes openly copied him.

His rapid-footed dancing inspired Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson, among others.

His hit singles include such classics as Out of Sight (Get Up I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine, I Got You (I Feel Good) and Say It Out Loud – I'm Black and I'm Proud, a landmark 1968 statement of racial pride.

"I clearly remember we were calling ourselves coloured, and after the song, we were calling ourselves black," Brown said in 2003. "The song showed even people to that day that lyrics and music and a song can change society."

Brown won a Grammy award for lifetime achievement in 1992. He was one of the initial artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, along with Presley, Chuck Berry and other founding fathers.

Rest in Peace Mr. Brown!

I've been listening to one of his best live stuff, live in Zaire '74 for weeks now... Well, his impact on MUSIC is invaluable... Shame I haven't seen him live on stage. Fred Wesley & Pee Wee Ellis (2/3 of the original, legendary JB Horns) is coming to us in February, will be a nice event for the commemoration.

Good bye, Soul Brother #1 Crying or Very sad !

This has been a rough year for passing of legendary musicians and entertainers, and Mr.Brown adds to the list...damn Confused

I was with my Dad when we found out about this and my dad started to tell me memories of when he and my Mom saw James Brown in concert.

James had a great life, so it's all good...Rest In Peace.
