If this post is because of mine, just want to clear that I don't hate him or think he isn't good. Just that we still don't know clearly why he left the band. Besides, he didn't add too much to the Jamiroquai world, did he?
So: bah.

Well we don't know clearly why Stuart decided to leave definitively the band (is it really just for his family? I think he said that Jay didn't give them enough money, and the credits were not given where they should be given), or why Simon Katz left, right ? They're still human, so if he had problem in a band, or if he didn't want to play with the band anymore, it was the better thing for him to do
And for his input in the band, it's certainly because he didn't have a lot of experience as a bassist player. Add to this 90% of the fans hating him because he took the place of the most liked Jamiroquai member after Jay, and you will have a guy not daring too much, and doing everything that the lead singer tells him to do.
Oh even though I wrote this message because of your post, it was not just directed to you, it was more for the guys out there dissing him because he didn't play like Stuart |

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM STUART ZENDER Reasons For Leaving Jamiroquai - 7 October 1998
Many different stories may arise from the news that I have decided to leave Jamiroquai, so I've decided to let the public know my version. After 6+ years of being with the group, I felt the time had come when I should move on. I've always felt that being a team player was vital to any band, and this didn't happen with the group. We were all involved with the writing and production of the music, but at the end of the day, credit was with one person. As our success increased, the monetary splits suddenly decreased. My commitment to the band was never an issue with me, but when you do commit and contribute to the long hours in making an album a success, and the gruelling tours that follow, compensation should be distributed fairly. The decision to leave was not an easy one, as after 6 years friendships have grown. I know there are opportunities out there for me, where I will be recognised for my musical capabilities, but most of all to be part of a team. Melanie and I are eagerly looking forward to the birth of our daughter next month. She has been very supportive in my decision, and we are both going to play an integral part in our daughter's life. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the fans for their dedication and support, and wish Jamiroquai continued success. Stuart Zender

Stuart built his experience with Jamiroquai. Jamiroquai was unknown when he begun to play in it. And like he said himself, he was pretty much able to do whatever he wants on his bass (sound effect etc...). And I was not really talking about talent. For me it's clear that Stuart is more talented than Nick. I was talking about experience that you gain when you play in gigs.
Stuart didn't begun to play when Jamiroquai was already an established band, and after their highest selling album (TWM).
Pressure was certainly higher on Nick because he was fairly new in the band, and he was not an accomplished session player.
Look at Paul. Before Jamiroquai, he has worked with established musician. In spite of that, Jay told him for a while how to play the b line. It looks like he's having more freedom in his play just now :/ |

hahaha of course... that post made my day... haha!!!
as far as i know, Nick left the band cos he was getting into drugs as Jay did so much between 2001-2003... dunno if it is the right story...
and Simon left for the same reasons as Stu...
that's all i know... i've read so much stuff about they three and that's all i remember and know..
and what can i say about mr. zender... he was just two years playing when he recorded with Jamiroquai the first album, and then he became a bass player star!
Dyego said that nick was not a total contribution to the band... but i still think he did an amazing job, had some mistakes, sounded shit on some old tracks (as the whole band did haha), but there were so many songs where his bassplaying was totally out of this world! |
