Music on this side of the planet
I came down to the computer, and connected the ipod, then windows media player and started listening to some music. No genre in special, then I started to wonder what kind of music is the one being heard in other countries.
Here in mexico you get (in my pinion) some not too good music, but then I like paulina rubio and alejandra guzman (they are two of the important local divas, but not diva diva. semi-diva with money I mean). We have good performers. Plastilina mosh is a duo from a very important city here in mexico, monterrey, and they make some outstanding music, i strongly recomend any of their albums.
So what do I like from music in spanish?
I love illya kuriaky and the valderamas, they used to be, a duo from argentina, they sing in spanish and they trully are able to use this languaje on a level that makes me feel proud of speaking this languaje.
Los tetas! funk-hip hop soul band from chile, they already split but albums like la mama funk or la medicina, independiente or even tomala! are great for a walk on the wild side of the mind.
C funk is another artist, he used to play guitars and vocals on his time with los tetas. He released an album named Joya, and is super nice for anybody who likes interesting beats and a great production job (this job is not moinstream, but is one of those great things that are done in music and is just enjoyable
Los amigos invisibles, from venezuela, although I have the slight suspision that hey spend most of their time on the states, i don`t know why, but they have that sexual prescence on the stereo, great musicians, Arepa3000 is a good alb to listen to.
In english I like Jamiroquai of course, but I also like 311, beck (not jeff beck )...Air, phoenix, maxwell, led zeppelin (a great way to spend a day walking)..
There is this canadian band named Moxy fruvous, they are somewhat popular in canada but on levels that I noticed to be humble. mind this band, they are very organic on what they do, and have some great content on their lyrics.
Remy shand is a dude that i heard of by accident on the streets one day up there, he released an album named "the way i feel"..what to expect? a warm feeling inside your soul and exposure of feelings, great album.
I recently discovered a webside that has an interesting compilation of genres and its respective artists to choose.
check it out, i have to sleep some more.

they've done awesome music. too bad they dont play together anymore. they were suppoters of jamiroquai in ferro 97, and one of them (emmanuel horvilleur) was their supporter this year (i didnt like his performance)
another argentinian funky band that i like a lot is Los abuelos de la nada, from the 80's. the leader, Miguel Abuelo, died of Aids in 1988. they have some cool stuff too, i totally recommend them
